Now, if you want to enter an adult debate, try getting your facts straight, and do a bit of research, eh?
Luke 6:31 Stuart.

Google's frantically...

There seems to be a key point that Stuart Brennan fails to acknowledge - there is a world of difference between a bad news story and one that is complete made up bollocks. This story falls into the latter category but it is being played out like it is some form of debating point i.e. dickhead posts an article then SB posts a counter argument.

With this mentality, it would be equally valid to post a story stating Moyes is a paedophile - equally bullshit (i think) as dickhead's story - but any semblance of fact doesn't seem to be a requirement.

To be fair to Stuart, I don't think he's really defending the story at all. But others are, which is bullshit.

SB can't come on here and rip the young guy to shreads, it would probably get him in a bit of shit. He also can't defend such a dire and useless piece of journalism. So where does that leave us?

Why are people bringing Uniteds attendances into this debate. It makes us look small minded and deflects attention away from the fact a local paper has written an article questioning the clubs intention to expand, by a journalist who clearly has no knowledge of the capacity of the stadium (when segregation is considered), that the game was sold out and furthermore has no knowledge of the season ticket waiting list or, even worse, has discounted this to lend weight to his opinion, rather than provide a balanced article.

Furthermore to exacerbate the issue, he has then defended this poorly written and researched piece by trying to shift the landscape of the debate on twitter by feigning concern at the number of no-shows at the stadium rather than admit he was completely wrong and had no justification for this work.

That is the issue.
i asked for the figures to go up as an illustratio n of how many fans do not pass through the turnstyles at a sold out game .not as a dig at utd. from these figures you can see 3000? no shows is probabley what we would exspect to see at city ?

I think there's little to be gained by the usual accusations of bias in favour of the rags in the MEN. As always, most foul ups are a direct consequence of incompetence rather than conspiracy. A stupid article about the Rags would be just as offensive (although not as many posts here I would guess)

Anyone who knows anything about the recent rivalry between the two clubs knows that, having got the xx years banner off our backs, the thing we were being accused of was having a half empty stadium and no fanbase. Clearly for anyone who pays attention, it was nonsense.

However for the local newspaper to accept an article that plays that card, and plays it without any logical argument whatsoever is just unacceptable. Those who wrote and approved it will have known the impact. The fact that they didn't withdraw it and attempted to defend it proved it. We look at journalists to give us an experienced view on the subjects we want to read about, we don't expect the same sort of argument you'd get on Red Cafe.

We won't make any real difference unless the MEN website receives a sustained boycott - the only way this sort of article can be removed is for the clubs to state their opposition to it - Ferguson was quick to ban journos and publications he didn't like - I think City need the MEN less than the MEN needs CIty. I'm sure SB won't comment but I'll bet that his article had one eye on his next appearance at the Etihad.
