Just noticed who started the thread. And how busy this forum has been since. Which begs the question, has anyone seen Ric & David Lynch together at the same time?

Hmm.

What's the betting that one of those red-ringed seats was Ric's?

Damn. I now see the significance of the text from him which said "Mod meeting at the bar in 2 minutes. I'm buying."

Doesnt anybody else feel that the MEN has done just what they set out to do .
Write a in accurate artical and upset all blues who read the MEN.
These blues then express their dissgust on a blue forum.
This then generates 1000`s of fresh hits on their website.
Then refuse to remove artical. Thus creating outrage from more blues. Causing more hits.
Maintain this for approx 48 hrs. Hoping more people click on to see if its removed.
Eventually issue an apology with link on blue forum.
So causing record numbers of blues to click on link.
BINGO !

Allow dust to settle for approx 6 months........... And repeat

That's certainly got a little bit of truth in it, but it's more just basic incompetence than some Machavelian master plan. If poking a stick in and stirring the pot with a large proportion of your readership were a legitimate practice for the press, you'd find the Liverpool Echo full of stories about what a dump Liverpool is and The Evening Standard full of pieces about Londoners being rude.

Clearly the author and more importantly, the senior colleagues who got this on the website, have no concept how football crowds work in the era of the season ticket. If the story were true, you could complain about the MEN writing negative pieces. As its basis is a pack of lies, you're only left with monumental incompetence, magnified by the way it was handled subsequently.

Fair point....... But this is the so called" Manchester" Evening News we are talking about. A newspaper that is obviously on it`s arse and is desperate to sell a dying advertising space.
A tatic i dont think any of the affore mentioned newspapers would dare try.
Each individual in a large workforce should be accountable.

I suspect he will be accountable. Don't underestimate the significance of his colleague publicly rubbishing his article on twitter and on here. That just doesn't happen usually. Stuart will play down the lad's involvement but ultimately he's made a fool of himself and his career will suffer. His ambition will of course to be the next Stuart Brennan, probably in his wildest dreams for his own club, Liverpool. No one will touch him with a barge pole if he doesn't learn a hard lesson about this.

Do feel for the quality reporters at the MEN like Keegan and Brennan who would be tearing their hair out at the damage such an obviously absurd article would cause amongst our fanbase, and importantly, their readership.
