Manchester's best curry?

Sad to see what happened to the old Curry Mile in Rusholme.

None existent these days. Mostly shisha bars, crap takeaways and cheap shops these days with a very unwelcoming air about it (last time I went I had fireworks fired at me by some local cunts).

I never hear of anyone going for a curry down there anymore. I used to go regularly.
Lal Quila was my fave in Rusholme moons ago.

We were going to a Nepalese curry house in Blackpool before the covid business hit, is Nepalese much different to general Indian food?
I'm no expert on Nepalese food but in my experience it's fairly similar to Indian food. I was working in Plymouth 7 years ago and went for a curry at Himalayan Spice on The Barbican. I wasn't sure what i wanted and wanted to try something different so i asked the waiter. He recommended The lamb house curry which i ordered with a garlic naan, and it is in my top 10 curries I've eaten, and I've eaten a lot of curries over the years.

Nepalese people eat a meat or veg dumpling called a momo, something i haven't tried and its similar to a Chinese Bao bun which I've eaten several times.

A momo is more like a dim sum in my experience
Either fried or steamed .. a bit heavier than a usual dim sum and very filling

Just been to Dishoom for the first time. I rightly assumed it wouldn't be too busy on a Monday lunchtime, and I'd worked up an appetite after a massive swim.
The food was absolutely fantastic, with a great selection of "small plates" and a limited choice of main courses they can specialise in. I had the pepper mutton which was super tasty and very well spiced.
They also have an unusual selection of soft drinks as well as cans of local craft beer.
The service wasn't too in your face but friendly and informative.
Will definitely be back!
