Ah the old Bluemoon theory of a story being bullshit if its a negative one strikes again. I ask, if it was fergie in the story, would it be bullshit then?

It it was Ferguson in the story I suspect The Guardian would've put a positive slant on it: "Sir Alex ignores Monaco riches to remain loyal to United".

And they would do that why?

I've been 100% behind Mancini from day one and still am. I am very disappointed to hear about this business with Monaco. Even if he thought he was going to get the sack he didnt need to go off talking to another club for weeks on end.

Let's not forget we are talking about a millionaire here, not an average bloke like us lot who needs to pay the mortgage and feed the kids. If he'd have been sacked he would have got a nice little pay off and could have gone back into football at any time.

Very disappointed.

There'll be another article out soon about how City held discussions with various managers, or their agents, as to whether they would be available if the club were to sack Mancini.

Course, this is hardly a negative story anyway, is it? What it is, is a story about a manager having been sought after by another club, which is exactly what is happening over in the Championship this morning with Palace and Blackpool. If anything it could be seen as a positive because Mancini obviously stayed here and penned a new deal. The line 'after overhauling United to the league title' could be seen as a pop at United in a story which is nothing about them, but no one will see that because apparently everything is just so anti-City. It all depends how you see things and how bothered you are in the first place.
I see it as what it is - one club after the services of the manager of another club. The manager says thanks but no thanks and stays put.

My question would be why are these negative slant stories starting to surface again in the media, and the rag media machine in full positive flow.????????

Could it be because those stories happened? Like this one here, if indeed it did happen well isn't it the news outlets job to print such stories? Isn't it then up to the public to tick either the 'oh shit, really?', 'oh', or the 'so fucking what?' box? If Wenger had been the manager in question, it would have appeared in the papers, same with Rogers, Ferguson or any other manager. Again though I ask how is this a negative, what with the eventual outcome of Mancini deciding to remain here?

After speaking with a City source loyal to the club for over 25 years (i.e. me) Bluetonium can reveal that the average City fan is bored with such stories.

How about a story on Fergie refusing to let go over the road? According to once source close to the club (some Spurs fan I was chatting to in O' Neils last week in Didsbury, which technically is only a few miles away from their ground) he's actually damaging the club in the long term with his refusal to relinquish even part of the role, making a transition ever more painful each day he remains in charge.

The whole story is a negative, as the scum Press will now go to town on Mancini again, something they appear so keen to do at the every opportunity. It is very rare you see a positive story about Mancini. He is now going to get hounded by the Press to give an answer and no matter what answer he comes out with, they will turn it into a negative, not a positive. Unfortunately, most readers won't be able to see behind the negative slant they will no doubt print.
