Mancini 'arrogant and vain'

Mentioned it in another thread, but very disappointed if the club are leaking anti-Mancini stuff through the press. I understand why some think it's the right thing to do, but to me I thought we had a bit more class than that.
I can see why you'd think that but there's a wider issue at stake here. Although we're a pretty small part of Abu Dhabi's business empire in financial terms, we are huge in terms of recognition and media attention. You can bet your life that one of the first items of conversation between the Queen and the Abu Dhabi royal delegation recently was May 13th last year, this year's FA Cup final or something else City related. The good publicity is worth its weight in gold but any bad publicity is similarly magnified for the wrong reasons.

The point of PR is to present yourself (or your client) in the most positive light and it's interesting that one of the key advisors to the Abu Dhabi royal family is Simon Pearce, whose expertise is PR. They don't like bad publicity and the Mancini affair has definitely been bad publicity. The objective now is to repair the reputation of the owners and the way to do that is by showing the world that Mancini was a disruptive presence, who we'd been more than patient with, and that he had architected his own downfall by his approach to his management of his relationships with players and staff.

This isn't about City showing class, it's about Sheikh Mansour and his team trying to put the cork back in the bottle and restoring their reputation without being overly disrespectful to Mancini.

This is why it was insane to ever believe Mou would be a Mansour target. No way Jose, as they say. Absolutely never would they think that this would be a good idea. Its pure fantasy to think any different.
You can't ignore him as a managerial candidate but I agree that would have been a big cross in the box for the Sheikh.

Personally don't think briefing journo's with negative information about a former employee paints the club in a good light at all. Particularly when a number of journo's now have made it public knowledge that the club is doing this. Talk about reputation and from my perspective at least, this damages the reputation of the club far more than sacking any manager does.

I also think that the only way the clubs reputation will be repaired (don't think it has been damaged that much anyway) is by us doing the business on the pitch under the new bloke next season. Until then people will still criticise the decision to sack the man who won a league title the season before whether we're slagging him off behind the scenes or not.

Fuck me, the kitman tweets and suddenly we're wrapped up in the murky world of conspiracy and spin.
Could someone show me an example of the club putting out negative info to smear Mancini?

Comments from several journos have suggested that is the case. And there is a remarkable similarity in some of the anti Mancini pieces over the last few days suggesting they come from the same source.

Which could be any of the many people who have recently left the club due to him, or players who don't like him, or staff who don't like him.

What about a member of the medical staff he allegedly snubbed & sacked for instance ?

Why is everyone so keen to blame our club for this when there are literally scores of people who are just as likely, or probably more likely, to give the press ammo ?

Did we really phone up this kit man in Sunderland to find out if he had anything bad to say about Mancini ?

When several different journos from several different media organisations hint (and in some cases more than hint) at the same source of the stories you tend to get a bit suspicious.

The former assistant kitman has nothing to do with anything.

It always comes out in the wash.

They've taken him to the cleaners.
