Mancini at the game tonight

Have they made a decision to sack Bilic and got Bobby waiting in the stands just like that time against Sunderland when it turned out he wasn't but we still got pelters off the press?

Ah, the RagDipperArseHaringeyWiiiiiiiiiiiistHiiiiiiiiiiimMeedya will not have it that Roberto was in the stands! The Cockney Clubs just wouldn't stoop to the same level MCFC did when Roberto was (not) in the stands at the Sunderland game.

One thing with Mancini he knows a player.

He was probably telling his lad that he had them playing like last night all the time when he had the job. I remember walking down to The Etihad for a good number of matches and thinking that the day had arrived at last when we were gonna batter a team. It turned out to be The Arse and Haringey Hotspurs batterings! They were great days.

Central figure in our recent history, and will rightly or wrongly be remembered as a City legend by most.

Very glad he's gone though. The club has moved on quite considerably from when he left.

No rightly or wrongly about it, he won us our first cup & league in god knows, defo a legend.

Now lets just have it right, he built a team that won the FA cup, TWO titles (MP may have been the manager but it was bobby's team), and more important wiped the smug off every f*cking ragarse in the known universe.
He left them in no doubt who was top dog, no room to argue it was a fluke by doing it on their own pitch for the world to see, a team that broke scoring records with a swagger not seen since in a blue shirt for decades.

Legend does not begin to cover what Roberto did for us.

You're quite right but if Pep had taken over this season after 6 years of Bob (having control of transfers) the squad would have been in a much better place to roll than it is after Peli.

Only this.

Those last two Pellegrini years were a complete waste of time where we went backwards at an alarming rate.

Imagine Guardiola taking over a Mancini team with that solidity at the back to build on and the technical players, we'd be talking about a dynasty.

Moral of the the story - be careful what you wish for.

It's pretty amazing how a guy who achieved so much in such a short time at City and is so widely regarded by our supporter base as being a genius of a manager has not gotten anywhere near a decent job since and has been sacked in every job he has taken since.

Still looks like he wants a job in the PL - be interesting to see what he could achieve with a club like West Ham.

I'm certainly not hankering after him but I do wish we'd backed him in 2012 so he could have retired Ferguson properly...

If the board had of backed him against some of the players egos he would still be here.

He should still be our manager..the board should have backed him and got him van persie..he was going to build a dynasty..

Blah, blah, blah. Mancini was the manager we needed at that time, who took us those few steps up the ladder. But this myth that the board didn't back him really gets my goat. For one thing we had FFP to deal with and couldn't just go out and get who we wanted. Second, he wanted three players who we De Rossi, Hazard & van Persie. The first didn't want to leave Roma and there's no way the board could do anything about that. The second was on the verge of signing but right at the last moment someone in his entourage demanded an extra kick-back on top of the agent fees already agreed. That went against a strict club policy so that deal fell through. And van Persie was lined up and ready to sign but, because of FFP and the board's worry that we were just stockpiling strikers, he had to let either Dzeko or Balotelli go. We had a good offer for Balotelli but Mancini wouldn't let him go so the RVP deal fell through.

Ultimately our business in that window wasn't great but that was nothing to do with the board not backing him. And even if the players were unhappy, if the board felt he was taking the club in the right direction and was working well with the execs he needed to work with, he would have been backed. But when you've pissed just about everyone off, from the Sheikh down to the tea-lady, you can't expect people to pander to your every whim. And on the day after his team had won the title, he handed in his notice which he rescinded after getting a 5-year contract. Had the club had the balls to call his bluff, we'd almost certainly have had Guardiola from the 2012/13 season.

So right man, right place, right time no doubt but it simply wasn't a case of the board not backing him.

Great post.

Respectfully karen, dont go there.

Imagine for one second you being told to not go on to the Bravo thread and be allowed to say what you want and the fuss you would rightfully kick up yeah?

Absolutely nothing disrespectful or anti in what PB posted and i agreed with, nothing.

He did a fantastic job and was without a doubt the right man at the right time for the club.

Happy Birthday for yesterday btw ;-)

If Pep was willing to sign for a long haul that would have been ideal.

But if we only get 3 or 4 years from him, then imo he is here at the perfect time, due to the emergence of the young signings & the academy players, who wouldn't have been around then.

Next season, with so many out of contract, he has almost a clean slate. Still it's a 4-5 year job rather than 3 imo though.

Edit. Would like to see Bob in the Prem.

I'm just waiting on 'corpse ****' for my Manager thread bingo. Can I count my own post since this thread looks like getting pulled/locked soon?

No need to be out as you say, just dont react to the poster and instead, react to what it is they have actually said and on both, they have said nothing that warranted your reaction imo.
