Cantona helped United win two Premier Leagues before taking leave of his senses at Selhurst Park. And Balotelli can kick whoever he wants while playing for Italy; I'm only concerned about what he does with City. Unavailable through suspension for something like 16 games since joining us. It's simply indefensible.

Yeah he'll be rightly suspended again.

It doesn't matter to me if he stays or goes, I just don't like the reactionary vitriol aimed towards him by fans as if he is the reason our season has gone wayward.

Last season when we won a trophy he was said by fans to be fantastic, now we have a season empty, suddenly he's shit and needs shipped out.

Some fans want us, unknowingly, to be more like Chelsea - empty season (even though it was fantastic) sack the manager.....a player has a bad season - he's crap get rid buy another.
Yesterday was simply unacceptable for me. Not the sending off per se, but the fact that within 15 minutes of the game starting he couldn't help but put his own feelings ahead of the greater need of the team. That 'tackle' on Song sums him up; completely braindead, selfish, untrustworthy and a liability. It showed that deep down he simply doesn't give a shit about Manchester City; a fact that was then compounded by his decision to amble off the pitch following his red card when the last thing we needed was the clock to be run down. That's the reason I've now had enough of him.

Brilliant post. He play's like an egotistical 13-year old.

A tackle just as bad.

Yet he hasn't received a single booking this season. How?!

yeah, it's simply unbelievable... reality is, there is bias, for sure... but it is what it is, we just gotta be at the top of our game and the rest will take care of itself someway, somehow
That's what Mancini is up against when trying to win the league for City, he's up against United and the associations.

Sums up my feelings !

Just been discussing this about Rooney not being given a single booking this season. I honestly believe the FA having gone as far as appealing on his behalf to reduce his England ban for the Euro's have given a remit to the referees to be lenient on him this season with a run up to the Euro's in an attempt to him being perceived as a shining example to UEFA and their referees when the Euro's come around that he has cleaned up his act to reduce the possibility of any further possible bookings/suspensions when the tournament begins.

Balotelli without doubt has his problems but there is also no doubt a bias towards some (not all) of his bookings. However City and Mancini do not appear - at least publicly - to have tried to tether his outward frustrations which makes it all the more easier for a referee to show a card for sometimes not very much. Three times yesterday (shooting after the whistle had gone, kicking a post and kicking the turf in frustration) all show somebody not in control or focussed on the matter in hand and it makes it too easy for a referee when a decision is needed.

I can't defend the tackle on Song but I do get the feeling the media have hounded Balotelli out of English football. It's a shame because he undoubtedly has talent but he simply hasn't delivered. If he'd scored a hat trick in between bookings the headlines would have been very different. The really worrying thing is we don't have a forward you could rely upon to get a goal over the rest of the season (and the midfield's much the same). How have we fallen so far so quickly?

The media certainly have contributed a hell of a lot towards his unwarranted reputation.

He was sent off for two soft tackles, yet Laurent Koscielny who did the same wasn't. IMO only because it was Balotelli.

He's an immature, idiot. However he hasn't been handled very well my Mancini. He should never have been playing in high profile/pressure games, he's too young and inexperienced to handle it at the moment.

Like the petulant brats Rooney and Ronaldo were when they were younger (Rooney still is now), the scum kept them out of big games, and brought them on from the bench until they got used to what is required mentally.

But then, even Mourinho couldn't handle him so....

I may be mistaken. I just suspect Mario wouldn't have played the big games if he was there, nor get half the media bullshit.

I know he hates Balotelli but Redknapp is more or less spot on IMO. Ignore his Shrek fawning though.

No respect for the fans or the shirt... it's time to sell Balotelli
By Jamie Redknapp
PUBLISHED: 22:17, 8 April 2012 | UPDATED: 22:17, 8 April 2012

When I look at Manchester City, I see a club divided: talented, professional footballers, people like Vincent Kompany, Joleon Lescott, James Milner and Joe Hart.

Watch their faces as they left the field yesterday as the Sky cameras captured the hurt and pain after their defeat at Arsenal.

Then I look at Mario Balotelli.

This is a proper football club, a club who have suffered a great deal before reaching the position of title contenders.

The relegations and the heartbreak, while living in the shadow of their mighty neighbours.

When I watch Balotelli, I see a player who has no respect for the shirt, no respect for the history and no respect for the supporters who have been to the lower reaches of the Football League before suddenly finding themselves watching an oil-rich club who can compete financially with anyone in the world.

Balotelli has ability and he has scored 17 goals, including two in the 6-1 victory at Manchester United, but does his quality outweigh the negative shadow he casts across the club? No.

Sir Alex Ferguson must have watched Balotelli implode and had a quiet chuckle to himself. Manchester United have not been without their mavericks, but each of them - from Best to Cantona to Rooney - have a burning desire and a love of the game, a passion to succeed and a drive to be the best.

Rooney has not been without his problems. But he hasn't been booked in the Premier League this season and looks to be growing up.

Balotelli is incapable of growing up.

I understand at City, the feeling among the other players is that there is one rule for Balotelli and another rule for the rest.

If the owners are to sack Roberto Mancini for coming up short this season, then it is his handling of Balotelli that has exposed his failings as a manager more than any other. He signed him.

He knew what he was letting himself in for. When Jose Mourinho sold Balotelli, it was because he didn't believe he could change his ways.

Mourinho is the master motivator and can deal with egos. He couldn't deal with Balotelli. If the Special One is to be the next manager of City, Balotelli will be sold. No question.

On Sunday, he was wearing YOLO on his T-shirt, under his City top. You Only Live Once. Well, this is a player who has used up his lives.

I played with mavericks, players like my friend Robbie Fowler. But he understood it was about the team, not just about him. Balotelli doesn't get that. He doesn't get a lot of things.

He has failed his manager and his club. Even if they stay with Mancini, they should sell Balotelli. He is not worth the hassle and he proved it again on Sunday.
F O redknapper look towards your own family you hypocritical piece of shit

Mario's biggest problem is that he's Mario and he plays for man city. He never gets the benefit of the doubt. Some of his bookings have been ridiculous. If he can't keep his head down then he's going to continue getting stupid bookings and slated left, right and centre.

Those blaming him for our defeat and not finishing top need to get a grip. VK who I love and is being held up as a man of the character we need has been sent off in 2 huge games for us. Trouble is Mario is marmite.
