Why can't they just sack him? Do we have to wait for a replacement?

I think it would be highly disrespectful to the supporters and to Mancini himself to just remove him now. What they should do is amicably find a severance package, then put a joint statement on the OS saying that these are Mancini's last two games in charge and lets use them to wish him all the best and thank him for everything he's done for the club.

If they weren't going to sack him as soon as they'd decided he was no longer the guy, then they should find a way to do this where the supporters are happy and Mancini is treated with some respect publicly for the his achievements, irrespective of what the private feelings of the club are.

This is a fuck up by City for not getting this done quickly and quietly, but as Brennan says, when the truth finally begins to filter out about Mancini and his time at City, nobody will be surprised he was sacked and i suspect even his most ardent supporters will acknowledge him going was best for the long term future of the club.

Love him or loathe him, given he works for a provincial paper and City are important for his livelihood, I'd wager Brennan would not want to be rocking the boat unnecessarily - unless of course he is being briefed to do so by his paymasters.

Clearly he's being briefed to drip information out while the club continues to be silent.

The club can't say anything now, it would look even more ridiculous than not saying anything on Friday or yesterday.
