Mancini was their own man, they sacked Hughes and appointed Mancini. Remember?
Well I'm not so sure that's quite true, daft as it may seem. They were still looking for a manager some months after he was initially appointed. I believe he was a temporary appointment with the fall back position of being made permanent. When our first choices fell through he was kept on and, as it turned out, won us things. I'll probably get crucified as usual for saying that but my sources on that were pretty solid.
I just spotted this gem. After Mancini's three years and what's happened with Isco I think it's time for you to downgrade your source credit ratings PB!

I,m sorry billy, but i am a Manchester City fan, and cannot see how it is right to ever refer to Roberto Mancini as "a complete twat"

We are not talking about Phil Neal here billy..we are talking about a man who promised to rip down the banner, and did.

Don,t speak of our ex boss in those terms.
It's funny when people get all precious over saint bob, like he's the pope or something.

With all this bleating about "respect" and "gratitude" you'd think he was Nielsen Mandela.
I always wondered what his second name was, really liked "everybody's talking'

Lol, think Nielson was his last name and Harry was his christian name!

There's many reasons why it didn't work out for Roberto but his attitude and ignorance towards everyone but his own tiny clique of fellow Italians was the root.

Change a couple of words and that is an amusing post and a touch ironic.

I didn't want him sacked but have moved on because that is what you do as a fan, we support a club not a manager or a player but the utter glee shown by several posters at his sacking really is pathetic.

Undoubtedly he had his faults but still for all of his uselessness he still brought us the title and the FA Cup, not bad going when nobody liked you within the club.

Anyways onwards and upwards and hopefully we don't waste this opportunity to take advantage of our rivals own changes.

I couldn't give two fucks about that banner.
That's proabably because it isn't there anymore.

A banner is just a sheet of plastic with writing on it, but its enduring display represented the mocking and derision that united fans used to delight in directing our way.

As much as we tried to protest about the nobility of our cause as blues, the reality is that sport is about winning. That banner represented united's footballing dominance over us.

The fact they had to take it down was symbolic of our reemergence as a footballing force. I defy any blue to say that didn't, and doesn't, feel fucking fantastic.

Day two in the Mancini thread. After a few early morning sparring sessions between De Niro, Dave, and Squirty, and an attempt at being something other than a rag by GDM, Alf wanders into the room with another not so subtle attempt to paint Billy as as ignorant as the Italian. Unbeknownst to Alf Billy had the previous evening already revelled in his own hypocrisy whilst continuing the stance that the club ridding itself of Mancini was more than just the right thing to do, it was the just thing to do.

Has anyone bothered to start up Mancini FC yet

You'd think if they do the first job on the to do list will be to actually offer the manager's job to Mancini ... :)

It seems we're coming from a very different place when it comes to supporting City.

That almost has a pitying tone to it.

We're different characters with different narratives when it comes to following the club. I'd be surprised if we were coming from the same place.

I stand by what I posted.
