Mancini or Pep era?

that was never a team of average players he won the title with. So, if you use "took a team of average players", then "replaced many of them with world class ones" should follow. Not pushed them to the edge and made them Champions. You must mixed him with Ranieri.

It was probably the best assembled striking force ever in football, supported by yaya, silva and Nasri in their prime. He probably can take some credit for back end as Kompany and Zabaleta went from average to world class players, but that side was assembled as a group of mostly already established stars whole Europe wanted to buy and was by no mean a group of average players.

Lescott, Milner, Richards, Barry, Hart, Johnson, Clichy, Balotelli were hardly "stars whole Europe wanted to buy". And Nasri, Dzeko, Kolarov, Zab and Kompany weren't top of Europe's elite's shopping list either.

Mancini era was a little more 'City' for me. A perfect storm of past and present. An unbelievable team and players playing exciting football mixed with more than it's fair share of mental moments. Incredibly fun.

There's pressure on us to win every game convincingly under Pep and at times it can feel like a churn but If Pep wins the UCL it may surpass them all and weve seen the best football weve ever witnesses a city team play (Consistently) but dont think anything will top the culmination of the 'Augeeerroooo!' moment which summed up everything Mancini imo.

Both incredible regardless.

Some of these comments about Mancini "getting" the fans more than pep, having a harder job than pep (we finished 4th and level on points with the rags in 5th before pep joined, and had the oldest squad on the country), developing players that pep would have binned like zaba and kompany (what??? Delph, zinny - he is completely changing players games) and having more passion than pep (really, does nobady watch pep on the sidelines, or watch all or nothing??)

Staggering. Mancini will always be revered by us but Pep is another level in all aspects imo.

Dzeko was most wanted young striker in Europe at that time. He scored 50+ Bundesliga goals in two seasons before coming to City and was phenomenal in Wolfsburg. Nasri was best Arsenal player, after RVP at that time and they were good team. Hard to recall each detail from that time, but he was definitely wanted at least by Rags. Lescott, Milner, Clichy were established PL players, Kolarov was well known name in Italy. Balotelli was huge talent if someone managed to deal with his stupidity, but not even "his second father" did. I gave him credit for Zab and Kompany, though he started to play Zaba only after Richards got injured. And on top of that he had Tevez, Aguero, Silva and Yaya.

We had best team in the league that year, better than ageing Rags team. They won at Sunderland with team of Young, Evans, Jones, Carrick and Valencia and 40 years olds Scholes and Giggs. The moment we added Aguero on the end of that summer, it would be a failure if we haven't won it that season.

Gives me shivers that picture. Twas a time when it used to pop up on what seemed like every other page on here.
