Mancini or Pep era?

their possession stats were similar to pep’s team. maybe the 17-19 team doesnt get the ball back once Yaya and peak Dave are dancing about.

my main point is the mancini team had a better back bone. they could come back in games and fight to the end and all that shit.
The 18/19 side had a phenomenal backbone and excellent spirit and fight.

Very tough call. Mancini will never be forgotten, for ending the trophy famine, and tearing down that banner at the Meccano Set. And also for standing up to Ferguson on the touchline that night (league Cup s/f at home to them?), doing the yapping gesture at GPC.

But the last four or five seasons under the bald frau Pep have been a monumental journey. 6 trophies (not counting Community Shields), and the prospect of more by the end of this season. And, arguably, the most entertaining football I've seen City play in my lifetime. With a nod in the direction of the runner up season under Booky, the Keegan promotion season and the Mancini title season.

Joe Mercer... Tony Book.. john Bond...Peter Reid and Kevin Keegan... Mancini, Pellegrini,Pep... that's Manchester city and there's no need to argue

As much as I love this team - the greatest English team of all time, I feel I'm used to winning trophies now. I know... I know... ! I've seen football that will never be topped and seen unbelievable passes, movement etc. Honestly, it's beyond anything I imagined.

However, for nearly 40 years of my life I never saw us win anything apart from a Play Off final and a few promotions. Honestly, I never thought we'd ever win anything and was used to DECADES of piss-taking. I hoped one day we'd sneak a Carling Cup or a FA Cup, but we'd have to be lucky. In truth, I never expected to get to a final or even win it. I know, but I've seen us cock up so many times.

When we won the FA Cup, everything changed. It was one of the best days of my life and it meant EVERYTHING at the time. When we won the title... that truly is right up there as one of the best days ever. The way we won it, putting Fergie in his box... nothing will ever top that - even if we win everything this year. The Aguero goal is simply the greatest ever goal scored by any City player in any team in any era.

Today I showed my young son the Aguero moment (he always asks why it's on our YouTube searches haha), but unless you were there it's hard to describe. You couldn't write it, you had to feel it. I've never felt anything like it - from excitement, to horror, to shock, to disappointment, to sadness, to typical-City, to absolute joy that few football fans will ever experience.

I honestly hope that one day he will experience something like it. I experienced something that day that will never be topped. City can win every trophy for 10 years, England can win the World Cup but winning the title after decades, on the last game of the season, with the last kick of the game, against your greatest rivals and (dare I say it) the greatest PL manager at the time.... that takes some beating!

I think Pep is the greatest manager English football has ever seen. This City team is the greatest City team English football has ever seen... but hand on heart, nothing makes your spine tingle and eyes water like that last few minutes of the QPR game.

And nothing will ever top it.
