Mancini out (Merged)

There is no belief in his abilities, a respect for his workings, that's the whole point.

People can lament about formations, signings, the price of fish.

Footballers are a precious bunch, they need to 'buy in' to their managers.

Mancini's man-management is rarely seen as an issue, but it is a pivotal one in the weeks ahead.

A couple of posters disregarded compliments last week about Mancini perhaps 'bending' in terms of the meal out.

It starts with mutual respect, then players are more pliable.

This seems to be a carbon copy of the England sqaud situation at the world cup last year.

Initially the England players enjoyed the new strict regime compared to the laissez-faire attitude under Sven and Mclaren. This all chnaged when faced with an extended period with Cappello and his aloof unbending ways

I have read many times that this is the Italian model for football management, which surely the club knew when appointing Mancini?

The players will eventually bend to Mancini's ways or be shown the door.

You seem (as do many) to advocate the dispensing of a manager at the behest of a few disaffected players?

Lets play the long (and smart) game for a change and allow the manager time to develop the squad as he sees fit.

The same people calling for the managers head here, will be doing so with the next guy after a few unexpected results...

Hang on, the "few disaffected players" line was trotted out last season, and he was allowed to get rid of some quality players. Same in Jan when he shed more.

And still a significant number of the first team, and I'll throw in the backroom staff, don't like or respect him.

He's the problem, not the players. He had his chance to purge them and get his own men in and onside. He's blown it.

It would be interesting to know which 50% hate Mancini. And which ones of those hated Hughes, and hated Sven etc etc.

Hate is such a strong word.

Agree with that.

The thing is, like any business, you can still hire the wrong manager two times in a row. They will both have their pros and cons but with the right recruitment we might find a more suitable match.

I'm confident we could get a manager that doesn't chose to spend millions and makes a lot more out of our players/football. Many people have their doubts about Hiddink, but he is a master of this in his CV. My only concern that he may not adapt to English style of football which Mancini has had problems, but he sure knows how to get the best out of players.

How do you know they don't like him or respect him and what are their reasons for not liking or respecting him?

Let's just say I've been told repeatedly from people very close to the club, pretty much on an ongoing basis since he started. You don't have to believe me but it's true. I do know specifics, but I don't think you need to look further than the Tevez request, the handling of Adebayor and Bellamy, the public comments of lots of players and ex=players, the on-field body language of a number of players and the lack of consistancy and togetherness on the field. Have a looka t what happened with Jamie Murphy too for another clue.

His people management is awful and he has no credibility amongst the players.

Does any criticism of the manager make someone a hater? Or are there shades of hate?

Or is using an emotive term like hate a good way of deflecting the discussion?

So many questions...

I don't know, I'm just going off Tolmie's statement that more than 50% hate his guts.

Fair enough Dave however around this time last season you were on here saying that Mancini wasn't liked, theres no chance he can stay on, he'll be gone at the end of the season. Why do you know all this yet theres hardly any reports in the media about how the players can't stand Mancini. Do you have better links to the club than the likes of Ladyman of the Daily Mail, Taylor from the Guardian? Serious question

So you suggest the very definition of insanity, repeating the the same thing and expecting a different result?

Getting a new man in will in no way guarantee us not to be in the same postion next year as this.

Remeber back to Hughes , we had the same problems with dissaffected players then. Players who didn't like his aloofness and squad discipline , Elano , Dunne etc

be careful what you wish for....

This is not about where I hear information from. You don't have to believe me if you don't want but I'm not making stuff up, just as I wasn't last season. With regards to journos, be very aware that there is usually a gap between what they know and what they print. And also be aware that, bearing in mind the crackdowns at the club on "press leaks" in the past, staff will usually tell friends more than they tell journos.

Make your mind up! Is he young and learning or is he a proven manager. He can't be both.
In two full seasons he would kill this Club. His arrogance and stubbornness prevent him from making progress.

he's both.

yes he is young and naive at times. but he has proven he can be a successful manager by winning trophies. whats so difficult to understand about that?

'Young and learning' was your expression. Put that together with 'proven manager' and you have a contradiction in terms. It's a desperate attempt at defending the indefensible.
What I can't understand is the reason why you and the others are taking Mancini's side, when you can see exactly what we see, an under-performing group of players. Inspiration comes from good managers.
I am not normally a 'manager out' type of fan; I never joined in the attack on Hughes, apart from criticisms of his defence, but Mancini's failure is screaming at us and I just hope that our owners, who are not stupid men, will take the appropriate action asap.
We all want stability, but that desire should not control our opinions.

It depends who that new man was. If by any chance Mourinho did make himself availlable then you could absolutely guarentee that we would not be in this position next year.
