He's certainly making headlines now at Milan, something that does Mancini no favours whatsoever.

He clearly bought and championed a player who is now proving his lack of professionalism towards our club.

Would it be correct to suggest that, when others questioned Balo and thought the time may have come to offload the player, Mancini suggested that we shouldn't do so because he, i.e. RM, was the man who'd be able to get the best out of the player? If he did claim that to the board, this season would seem to be making it look quite a silly claim.

Roberto could never look silly ... wash your mouth out with soap and water my good man and get back on song!

Seriously though ... good to see you in amongst us and not just watching quietly from the sidelines.

:)

I am genuinely curious from people who may know better than I do whether this is something Roberto claimed to senior people within the club. It was certainly asserted by a lot of his admirers that he'd be able to help Mario achieve his potential because of their relationship. Looking at the way Mario played for us this season and the way he's now playing for Milan, it rather appears not to be the case.

We'll see how Mario shapes up long term, but I do take your point about Mancini. We don't really talk about selling Balo in January as anything other than a happy joyous occasion for everyone involved, including City. Best let certain sleeping dogs lie. ;)

Ah, I understand. So it was just a splendid piece of business and superb judgment call to fail to cash in on the player last summer after his successful Euros when there would have been more interest and we might have had a chance to claim a bigger fee, only to keep him, have him mysteriously incapacitated and indisposed for much of the time, score a single league goal in the following half season and then leave.

Right you are, then. (I agree that time will tell what he achieves in the long run. I was just intending to suggest that, as others have suggested in the thread, he suddenly seems a bit more interested in playing than he did when contracted to us). ;)

Not in either camp re RM but some players just don't fire for clubs for a variety of reasons.

No many doubt Balotelli doesn't have talent but whether his application and immaturity continue to dog his career as they did at Inter and Man City time will tell.

Funny that, he's been offered it twice before!

Admittedly, Soriano and Begiristain, might well now overlook him.

Flip side, they also didn't rule him out as a viable candidate when they interviewed him for Barca.

As for the baggage, none more so than Balotelli!
And what did Mancini say about balotelli? The sheikh loves him because he makes headlines.

He's certainly making headlines now at Milan, something that does Mancini no favours whatsoever.

He clearly bought and championed a player who is now proving his lack of professionalism towards our club.

Mou's dream was/is Barca, Soriano and Begiristain and the other Barca directors pissed on it.

The press conference Mancini gave yesterday was very poor.He looked like a man who wanted the sack.Lets hope we dont get beat today.

I think he's been bracing himself for the sack for a while.

As he should, in my opinion, 2 years of Champions League mediocrity is unacceptable for the amount of money spent. Indeed recent performances have suggested he is losing the dressing room for even Premiership games. Nice guy, took us a step on from Sven and Hughes, but now it's time for someone to establish us as a real European giant.

The talking heads on American Fox Soccer channel thinks Mourinho wants to take over for the manager of the Rags when he drinks himself into oblivion. They don't beleive he would take the City job.

One other problem I see with Mourinho is his ability to work with Txiki if he was to give him the job.

Will Mourinho feel undermined by the fact Txiki thinks we would be good enough for City but not Barcelona?

Leers be real here, Barcelona are a miles ahead of us in terms of size and success as a club.

That could be a big ego blow if you ask me.

If Txiki was not in charge then maybe I could see it happening if Mancini was to go, but I predict a very touch and go relationship between Txiki and Jose if they were to work together.

Who knows??
