I see an holding mid and 2 box to box mid able to defend + an ex fullback playng everywhere....

MANCHESTER U****D v Spurs, Premier league 2010 3-1: Van der Sar ,Rafael, Evans, Vidic, Evra, Valencia, Scholes, Fletcher, Nani, Giggs, Berbatov

About 2 weeks ago against the team that just beat us, they won 3-1 with 5 attacking players, two of whom are 106 years old.

Some journalists were commenting Mancini's english was regressing.

exactly, their players can really cover the ground, and do absolutely everything. No specialists as such. Just like Utd with tevez, rooney, ronaldo.

The problem we have is that Barry is not enough of anything on his own. and de jong, no matter how well he plays, limits the team. At the top teams, the modern 'defensive' midfielder is normally a playmaker, like Xavi, Pirlo. at the very least he has to have the technique to play the ball in any situation in either half of the pitch... just like Ballack and Lampard.

but the real problem is that we are playing innie-outie wingers, to do that effectively, you HAVE to have fullbacks who overlap and cross on their natural foot. Our guys just can't make the ground up (zab), or waste every single crossing opportunity (bridge).
Don't get me wrong because you have to be good to do it BUT the "chelski"way can be exposed bigtime by a team that puts pressure on both fullbacks,in our home game against them we did just that & the scoreline flattered them, but they will win the league.
The rags also did the same thing to a certain degree,2 wide men playing on their natural sides are far better than 2 playing the "outer/inner"system,
Bridge & Zab both tired the system fell apart & our manager just did no see that he could have put Ned & Micah on put Johnson & SWP on their right sides & drive on but it wont have entered his head & it never ever will.
He has a system & it worked to an extent in Italy so he will never change it.

I share your concerns about Mancini, but his supporters on here are 100% right that he deserves the opportunity to get the team playing his way, with players of sufficient quality to make his system work. Lets see who he signs and how he plays, and give him a full season before we make our minds up about him.

but theres the issue that mancini doesnt like playing 2 strikers and a creative mid... Apparantly.

How many times do they have to show the goal! To be honest, all the pundits talk shite. They change their mind from week to week. Just because they've played the game doesn't give them the monopoly on opinions. Jesus, just think that in 2 years time Scholes, Neville etc, etc will be retired and then on here! Christ it's not good to think about....

Scholes won't, the fucker can hardly speak. Mind you, that hasn't stopped Merson, I suppose.

I'm not Mancini's biggest fan but my god, Soccer Saturday can fuck right off. Paul Merson's average statement: "Yeah, Mancini hasn't done too well, 'as he? I mean sure he's an alright manager but City 'ave spent loads of cash and really, they should be finishin' in the top four. They need a British manager I think, just look at how well 'Arry Redknapp has done at Spurs. With limited resources as well, top manager."

Twats.

lol, city to my understanding generally play on the counter attack through the wingers and forwards, the tactics fine because we have class players with great speed, maybe a bit 1 dimensional but i havent seen it be stopped yet
