2 points times three and a bit still has us sitting pretty on last years final table

I agree, I wasn't having a go, in fact I think we'll improve anyway, I think we'll beat united away, they won't play (or be allowed to play) for a point at home for starters, and we have the players to win a game if they come at us, which was why they didn't last night.

Exactly, I wish they had attacked us last night as I think they would have been punished. It did remind me of the old Pool Vs Chelsea champs league 2 legged knock outs last night.

What I cannot fathon is the minority of our fans that feel as if we are doing badly this season. Even when comfronted with the facts, the table and the absentees that we have had.

-- Thu Nov 11, 2010 7:09 pm --

A two point improvement on "clueless" is hardly worth shouting about. Especially considering the money spent. That is progress by the skin of it's teeth.

Not when you consider Spurs and Pool are both doing even worse than last season and "clueless" only managed for half a season.

I would happily "settle" for 73-75 points now if you offered them, only a nutter would not I suspect.

Would you not?

What about 433 with an "attacking" player as one of the three midfield players? Silva for example, with AJ and Milner on the wings.

I suspect that Balo will be one of the wingers when fit and not suspended.

the team that started at West Brom (but with AK at LB) will be the team that Manicni plays as his strongest I guess.

Though if he wants to go for impossible to beat against the top couple of teams, I shall not condemn him for it, even if I would do something different in his position.

The fact is that what we know about football is jack shit compared to RM. It is his head on the block should he not succeed. He alone knows what has been placed as our target for the season and to second guess with 20:20 is pointless.

I don't think it is a minority though, I think a lot of people have their doubts, me included, but far too many just thought we'd win things this year, and think we should be winning every match, however unrealistic ?

I strongly think that when available to him, our strongest side will attack more, and that results for now must come first. I know many will point to 3 defeats in a row as not enough, but when analysed the 3 defeats where very different, 1 was a reserve team (effectively losing to a fluke goal) to allow us to play 2 strong league teams in the next 2 games (and most would have taken 4 points from our last 2 games), Wolves was piss poor after a very strong (attacking) start, and Arsenal was very good performance against the best passing side in the league, a man down, and a game where we certainly did not defend.

What annoys me is the extremists, we're either brilliant or shit, when in fact its neither, we're doing pretty well, but could be doing a little better, but its a developing team, and there's still a way to go.

Hughes also didn't have a punishing Thursday-Sunday-Thursday European schedule to fit in.

Besides, looking at the points total itself doesn't tell the whole story, as the league is looking much more compact this year. The Premier League has been won with 75 points by United, and 95 points by Chelsea... so it shows the differentials that can happen. Indeed, Liverpool only came 4th a couple of seasons ago with 76 points. More than the 75 United have won it with. And when Everton qualified they did so with 61 points. So comparing points year on year can be a falsehood - comparing positions and relative proximity to other key teams is much more telling.

Sorry :o)

To be fair I only knew because I was going to post the same stats earlier, when I added it up, I thought naaah won't bother, not worth it for 2 points, so thought I had done it wrong, and had to count it again.

Moral is if you do clever maths, make sure you add it up right......

You see, I am trying to work out if that is just on here and the radio phone ins. I am neither pro or anti-Mancini. I am pro City but I find that I end up having to defend him every time I log on here as it seems somewhat reactionary and vitriolic either way after each game.

It is mental though.

There is a problem, with this forum and many others, and it is this, the people who hold a minority opinion tend to be the the ones who shout the loudest!

I bet there are about 5 or 6 posters on here (out of the 1000's of members) that hold the "Mancini out" opinion, but at first glance you would think that it was the majority opinion.

You will notice that some only come on here when we have a poor result or perceived poor result, they never come on when we win, they are not interested in debate, they just want the world to know what they think and feel, so they repeat it time and time again, just to make sure that we all understand where they are coming from, it was the same with Hughes and Sven

Well I don't like the persona that you put on here, chasing me about and having a go at much of what I say (especially when it differs from your view) but allowing whatever is written that supports your point.

And you know me well enough to call me sad in your opinion. Now there is an irony.

Now if you have finished with the personal attacks, some of us are trying to discuss the topic of the thread that you are dragging off topic.

Do you have a view or are you just reading to pick me up on things?
