Maybe, but I see no reason that Mancini can not work with his DoF. The cabal are blessed with many powers, but mind-reading is not one of them

Maybe he can. Maybe he can't. We have no idea what either Ferran or Txiki actually think about Roberto. We have no idea how the appointments of Ferran & Txiki unsettled the coaching or playing staff this season given the continuous speculation over both. More than likely irrespective of any potential unsettling factor such appointments were deemed necessary for the long term future.

Fact is as in previous seasons with endless speculation over the managers position - albeit last season was about Mancini leaving rather getting the sack - we have no idea what the decision makers are really thinking or what plans they have for the summer.

Hell we don't even really know how the hierarchy works or who is in charge of who. All we do is guess, speculate and then for the most part argue our case based on what we want to happen rather what will likely happen. That we can get 600+ pages on here with nothing more then our best guess is a testament to our stamina and dedication.

Makes you proud in a way
:)

If only Nasri showed the same desire and commitment.

We are the Messi of forums...

I think the power and influence that will be awarded to Txiki Begiristain is being underestimated in the above. He isn't called the "kingmaker" for nothing, our club wants to be like Barcelona and with that has to come a similar structure or else we remain Chelsea mkII with too much inconsistency and not enough continuity (Chelsea's NextGen coach has been complaining that the club doesn't give their kids chances - they have an amazing academy at the moment and no one is getting a chance). The whole point of a Director of Football and the model we've adopted is to give the guy great influence over all matters of football. Like this, if true: http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/footba ... -City.html

And you don't bring in possibly the most coveted DoF on the continent if you're going to strip him of the powers that make him so effective. This is the man who had the balls to push for Rijkaard - previously a managerial failure - and who some years later felt Rijkaard had done all he could and urged Barcelona to snub the world's most sought after manager Mourinho for their reserve team manager Pep. In building a continuity and ethos throughout the club, the DoF wants/needs a first-team manager suited to it and has a huge say on who that is at any other club. Even that imbecile at Chelsea, Michael Emenalo, got Benitez appointed.

Underestimating Txiki? Not all all. He will have a say in who Roberto's replacement is. He will probably prepare the short-list (working with Simon Pearce) but to have a say in dismissing Roberto? Not unless he can convince the Chairman AND Simon Pearce and that will take one hell of a lot of doing and both parties will have to be on board to even stand a chance.

Your statement also assumes Txiki want's Roberto gone and that's a big IF in itself. If Robby Savage is to be believed then Txiki and Roberto actually get on quite well. Further - till his feet are well and truly under the table he would probably stick with Roberto so he takes any flack and not Txiki.

The way these things work in the Middle East is that Txiki will only reach 'favoured advisor' status if he does his job well and turns the coaching at the academy round and gets the player targets he and Roberto have agreed on. Once you prove you do your job well your influence goes up.

Remember, Roberto has delivered success and was given a new contract as a result. It takes a lot for Arab businessmen to back out of that contract in less than a year. An awful lot. Txiki did a good job with Barca. That got him the job with City. He now has to prove himself.

I hope it's Jose taking over, as no other manager out there tickles my testicals like he does, fuck that **** from Malaga.

Seems an eminently reasoned post. Not the usual drama queen stuff pedalled on here.

If Mancini's outers get their wish; I just hope that after 1 year, we will not be crying about our team and calling for another manager change....

Changing the manager could well be us, turning into Chelsea Mk.II....They had a number of successful managers, but still got the chop by the owner (as the criteria of their success was purely linked with his hugely craved wish of winning CL).

For those claiming there are no alternatives to Mancini, Malaga vs Dortmund was a cracking first half. Free flowing, inventive football and two well organised teams. A credit to both managers.

From a playing point of view, Isco looks good, as does Joaquin, and Lewandowski would surely make a common sense alternative to the vastly overpriced (much as I like him) Cavani.......

If the reports are true and these reports are very dubious if you were given the choice of 1 person to leave would it be Mancini or Komps ?

Mourinho in for Mancini or Hummels in for Kompany ?

The former. It would upgrade every aspect of our first XI performance IMHO
