Mancini's missus calling the shots?

I'm Manchester born-and-bred, but Manchester really doesn't have much going for it outside of our football club.

Could be anywhere in the UK outside of London, to set itself apart.

The older I get, the smaller it seems to get.

I have had banter before about it, but Carlos was right about one thing, he says it has two decent restaurants.

I'd argue it has none.

Manchester is a shit place to live when you compare it with other cities like London, Barcelona, Milan etc.

Do you mean the Manchester that kick started the modern world with the advent of the Industrial revolution? The same Manchester that boasts the 1st Public park, public library and the 1st EVER railway station? That Manchester?... Or do you mean the Manchester that John Dalton's atomic theory came to being which is only the fore runner to ALL modern medicine.

Or Maybe you refer to the Manchester where Ernest Rutherford first split the Atom harnessing Nuclear energy?... Is that the SHIT place you speak of? Perhaps when Emmeline Pankhurst founded the suffragette movement In Manchester she disagreed with your opinion too? Maybe when Frederick Royce met Charles Rolls in MANCHESTER they were planning on driving out of this SHIT HOLE?

and Maybe, Just Maybe if you think Manchester is so shit, Then You should stop using you PC as that also only came into existence as the genius of Alan Turing (he of the way) made it so.

I hear Paris has nice grub, pretty pictures and woman with sexy hairy armpits, Milan has swanky clothes, Pretty pictures and convenient scooters to nip about on... Manchester on the other hand is... Well Shit apparently, done nothing for nobody. Maybe i'm just fond of the place because i'm born and bred here? Or maybe i love it for it's beautiful listed architecture? Or the numerous great bands that have made this City the coolest in the world?

I've saved the best for last ofcourse. That being our beautiful boys in blue ARE Manchester. Either way you're wrong and you can stick your fancey pants Euro capitals up your arse. None of them have contributed half as much to the world as Manchester.

Well said that man. Although technically I am from Eccles I am proud to live in the Manchester area. The architecture is second to none, even some of the new buildings are beautiful. (I do not include that monstrosity the Beetham tower in that though).

We have much to be proud of and the most important is our wonderful team and the magnificent stadium.

As for food, I have been in many restaurants in Manchester that serve great food and not too expensive either.

Manchester is definitely an acquired taste - and for the most part you have to have grown up in the City to acquire it!

If you're comparing to the two Spanish giants, both Madrid and Barcelona have far more to offer. As does London.

I will have to disagree on Milan though - aside from about one square mile around the Duomo, the place is an absolute dump - and it rains almost as much as Manchester.

I actually see a lot of similarities between Milan and Manchester - they are both large second cities who house their countries' two footballing giants (now we can say that!), but don't bear up all that favourably when compared to their respective Capitals. And have shit weather.

The fact that Milan has been attracting top players to play and live in it for decades (as have the Rags, on our doorstep) gives me hope that we shouldn't have too many problems moving forward.

But the City will put some players off, for sure

Much more eloquently put than me but well said.

-- Sat Jun 09, 2012 9:38 am --

In your opinion numpty. Having travelled around Europe for the last few years I can say that Manchester measures up nicely.

So roughly translated means you've had 2 weeks in Benidorm and 2 on Majorca?

Not so roughly translated, you're a gobshite. I've probably travelled to more City's than you've been to City games.

Less of the insults kid, I was interrailing and working my way around europe before you were even born.

BillyShears will be hoping this is true anyway

Not at all... Mancini may be a lot of things to a lot of people but I'm pretty comfortable that one thing he isn't is some hen pecked Tevez 2.0 figure. This whole story has the distinct whiff of someone having no news so just making some up...

Well said - Milan is wetter though. London is fantastic if you're minted, shit if you're not. Loads of outsiders have come to Manchester and stayed though. As someone said earlier, you don't come for the view but it has something about it. Loads of settled foreigners around my area, as in Europeans and North Americans
