Most of the people on this board are mancunians (including myself) so lets introduce our overseas blues to our way of speaking.

e.g.

1: ey up duck/chuck (also, alright mate) = hello

Ey up duck? What part of Manchester are you from?

I was just thinking the same thing, I've never said that in my life, I have however heard it said in Staffordshire (Stoke) a lot !!

Correct me if I am wrong here but I always thought it was an accent rather than a dialect and in fact we gave very few real dialects in the UK

"Our kid". And Ducado, I'd say there's argument both ways, there are terms and phrases we use that aren't used anywhere else in the country. And it can't just be the accent that distinguishes us from our 6 fingered brethren in Lancashire, as the barm or muffin thread proved!
