Mancunian Way closed this Saturday?

Hope somebody can give the exact times. It is a nightmare from the Warrington side when the Mancunian Way is closed. We have already had it this season. Amazing how it is when City are at home. If they had any brains they would do it when we are on an away game as this does not affect the people getting to the swamp.

The official times are 0600 to 1800 both days, but if the day's works done they do their best to open it sooner, it's definitely shut before the game. This was the case last year when it was announced during the second half vs. Fulham that the Mancunian Way was now open to traffic. The best thing is to plan a different route hopefully just for you getting to the match.

Thanks for confirming the times, I'll get the maps out again!

There is nothing about it on the Manchester Council web site or the Highways agency one

I checked them as well and could find nothing either.

Nightmare? Nah, just avoid it. Thelwall then M56, take M60 eastbound then come up Kingsway (A34) through Burnage, Longsight, Kirkmanshulme Lane then Alan Turing Way. Free parking on Whitworth Street behind the Seamark factory if it's raining, or on Gorton Lane if it's dry. You'll need to get there a bit early to be sure of a space and it'll take you a bit longer (45 mins?) but I've turned up last minute a couple of times and still been able to squeeze in. It's about 15 mins walk to the SE corner of the stadium from there.

There are signs up next to Manc Way so I'd say either someone is playing an elaborate practical joke or they're closing it

Just checked the signs. They say

Saturday 6AM to 3.30PM

Sunday 6AM to 6PM

So, might be a ballache getting to the ground if you normally go that way but it looks like it should be clear going home after the game.

I posted this in Off Topic before, didn't see the thread here..

Just seen on twitter GMP tweet this:

Mancunian Way

15 – 16 October 2011

Weekends only

Temporary prohibition of traffic from Fairfield St – Chester Rd.

Alternative route: Fairfield St – Whitworth St – Whitworth St West – Bridgewater Viaduct – Chester Rd.

Isn't that the whole of the Mancunian Way? ...are they stupid? There's gonna be atleast 20k+ people passing that way on Satuday, why not do it on International Weekend. Traffic's gonna be murder.
