Manuel Akanji | Rumours of an Inter loan deal

Galatasaray has pulled out of the transfer of Manuel Akanji.
Until last night, the transfer was still on the table and had reached a certain point. However, due to President Dursun Özbek's desire to be financially cautious, the deal has been called off. The player will now transfer to the Bundesliga. (Ali Naci Küçük)

Good, I'd prefer Akanji to be sold somewhere else so that Gala has enough money to get Ederson.

Romano said the clubs agreed but the player is yet to be approached by Gala. That's why he deleted his previous post.

Which in itself makes no sense.

The buying club would usually ask for permission to talk to the player first. See if they're interested.

Akanji's too good for Galatasaray in my opinion, cant see him going there.

He probably thought that the player already agreed as well but it seems like in this case it's the other way around. Viana tricked Romano a bit!

Me too, like I said in the comment above, Akanji should be sold somewhere else which would mean Galatasaray would be able to afford Ederson. Seems like that'll be the case now because Akanji doesn't wanna go to Gala.

Two of whom are extremely injury prone, which could mean 3 for 2 positions, one of whom is left back cover, and left back during the African Nations Cup
We could recall Reis in January, if needed and O'Reilly was left back for a lot of last season when we had one less than we've got now.

Considering Pep said he wants a smaller squad, how many centre halves are enough and do we need the same level of cover for all the other positions?

Bit embarrassing for who?

It's starting to feel like a free for all pile on, on our players at the moment. Every day it's a new player is attracting interest from clubs, left right and centre.
Just in general it's a slightly embarrassing situation due to the way transfers usually take place these days.

No pile on here. Keep your knickers on.

Yeah I agree, I'd keep him. We need to lose 1 outfield player without replacing him and I dont think Akanji is that player.

I'd say Gundo or Kovacic, probably go with the latter so we get some money.

Not sure who should go but I think there’s a danger we are light at the back with no natural RB, 1 LB who goes to ACN and 2 extremely injury prone CB’s

Galatasaray’s most lucrative asset is a massive piece of real estate—around 80 hectares of prime land in the wealthy Florya district of Istanbul, previously used as a training ground. In football terms, that’s the size of 112 full-size pitches.

The club expects to earn between €500 and €600 million from the sale. Though the land hasn’t been sold yet, Galatasaray's board is already operating as if the money is secured and integrated into their financial planning.

Just in case you were wondering.

They need to pay up or clear off sniffing around our players.

Khusanov was fantastic away at Madrid when he played right back.

I doubt Pep saw him as fantastic, he dropped him soon after that and Nunes was our main RB till the end of the season.

Khusanov was OK in a very average team performance. I think he has potential, hopefully he can become world class player, but, shock horror, currently he isn't as good as Akanji.

For some reasons, our fans underrate Akanji and overrate Khusanov. Also, they trust their view over Pep's view and are afraid Pep will play Akanji over Khusanov, which, for them, would be a bad mistake.

I don't know, but I trust Pep over what such fans think. We won the Treble and 4 in a row with Akanji playing more minutes than any of the defenders, including Dias. He isn't remotely as bad as some imagine.

He speaks some English now, though, we have seen him joking with Trafford, Rico, and others.

Savinho didn't speak any English and played regularly for us.
I think speaking Portuguese around the city team is more helpful than speaking Russian!

But agree if good enough will play, football is a universal language and they spend a lot of time training together getting used to each other.

I think Khusanov did great last year.

Khusanov is better than the the current day Akanji, who has rapidly gone backwards since the treble. He was crap last year (not alone).

Some really need to move on and assess the team today, not the treble or 4 in a row team. That is a lifetime ago.

When the chips were down in the last weeks of 24/25, Pep played Akanji, Khusanov couldn't make the match group. When did the latter become better? After the CWC where he played less than Reis?

I know a lot of fans are geniuses who know better than Pep. So, they may be onto something, who knows?

I don't trust Stones, or Ake to stay fit.
Bit unfair on Ake, he has played 105 games for us in 3 years. Had a bad time last season. Hamstring injury (it happens) and then surgery on a broken foot (which he had played on for months). So probably the clubs fault he ended up requiring surgery!!

these Turkish rumours might as well be all fake big time.

not even sure they looked at Ederson all summer or its all just media noise.
