It's funny all the chest beating in the Mancini thread in the run up to the Chelsea match. Then Inter go and lose to Sassuolo quite comprehensively to strand them in the bottom half of the table. TBF it's unlikely they'll be relegated, but it's also unlikely that they'll be finishing in a European place.

I would say its impossible. The Inter squad is unbalanced and barely fit for purpose. Its kind of why Mancini got the job in the first place. It will take major surgery, hard work and....hang on a minute I thought this was the Pellers thread? You scamps you just cant help yourselves from talking about Bobby can you?

Anyway back to Pellers. All things considered a good day at the office on Saturday. Shame we didn't get the win but I'll take the draw and the performance.

Not that I am biting BK - but the only reason Mancini has been mentioned in this thread is down to quite a number of people making the comparison yesterday - down playing Pellers achievements against Chelsea - and how Mancini is the ultimate gods gift to football management

We're happy to be discussing the merits of MP on this thread - it is about him - actually I don't even think we need an MP thread anymore as the guy has more than justifed his selection for the role

Fair enough. I just clicked on the last page to add my latest thoughts and found myself reading about Mancini at Inter with the usual names hee-hawing away. I mean christ on a bike give it a rest or discuss Mancini at Inter in the Mancini thread.

We will always have a manager thread as its a useful vehicle to discuss his performance good or bad. I do think that we over analyse the manager but its a football forum so its inevitable I guess.

The Chelsea side which Mancini faced also won the Champions league

And that side he did the league double over (Ancelotti's first season) hold the premier league record for goals scored and won the Premier League and FA cup double. But it's still irrelevant really.

Run that by me again mate? Late night last night watching the Superbowl!

I'm not backing Mancini in this silly argument about who has a better record against Chelsea, just stating a fact that that Chelsea team won the Champions League, as some people are saying their squad wasn't as good as the one they have now.

I know, I was stating that selective facts and instances from another managers time in charge of a largely different side, against a largely different side under no less than 4 different managers, is completely and utterly irrelevant to the topic at hand, which is Pellegrini's performance as City manager in general and against Chelsea at the weekend. I'm happy with both and don't see what Mancini, Ancelotti, Villas-Boas, Di Matteo, Benitez or indeed that melodramatic wannabe-scouse victim Portuguese twat have to do with this thread. It wasn't aimed at you in particular though.

I have no idea either

Both good managers, both did/are doing a good job and both had their faults

That's pretty much all that is needed to be said on the argument

Anyway im gonna go to the Shaun Goater thread to argue about how Sergio is twice the forward he was :)

Opening another contentious can of worms there I reckon...

which can't be said of Stuart Pearce (among others)

Pretty unfair to single out Psycho when we had Alan Ball.

Yet this is what you do in reverse. What is the difference between yourself trying to downgrade Mancini's obvious abilities and someone else doing the same with Pellers? You both use selective facts and circumstances to bolster your arguments. You spent years ragging on Mancini and now others will spend years ragging on Pellers. Come to think of it you are still ragging on Mancini now he is at Inter. The reason you react so badly to comparisons from 'idiotic posts' is because you are just the flip side of the same coin.

You never fail to disappoint Bob. Thanks for reminding me of a few of things which I guess would be pertinent to your over sensitivity at anyone "ragging on Mancini" (perish the thought). You began ragging on Pellegrini from long before his appointment and continued to rag on him long after his appointment and well into his first season in charge. You consistently characterised him as a loser. IIRC you suggested that whilst Mancini had the skill set to manage "Tesco" Pellegrini would be more suited running a "corner shop". You also said on numerous occasions that City were replacing a top tier manager with one "clearly" from a level below. As last season began you were bemoaning that "Mark fucking Hughes" had managed to stamp his authority on a his new Stoke City side whilst Pellegrini was still "farting around". You were seemingly at a loss to understand what it was that Pellegrini was doing or why he was doing it.

So you'll forgive me if I continue to heehaw at pretty much all your posts. :)

Yes. Last season. I was very sceptical of Pellers and largely unimpressed as we bumbled around in the first few months of last season. Then things improved. Our form improved and my opinion shifted. Not entirely as there were aspects I didn't rate like his in game management (still don't) and the imbalance between attack and defence which still concerns me but not only did our form greatly improve it was a successful season and (gasp) I changed my mind on Pellers.

Now someone changing their mind based on the evidence in front of them may shock you given your well documented propensity to stick with an entrenched position no matter what evidence is staring you in the face but personally I think it makes for a more rounded person and I recommend you give it a try. You never know it may just make you a person whose opinion is worth listening too.

Good of you to finally acknowledge you spent 9 months spouting uninformed bollocks about Pellegrini before disappearing from the forum all together for a good few months in the hope everyone would forget your heehawing at what a downgrade Pellers was. :)

Oh and really, if my opinion wasn't worth listening to you wouldn't be heehawing every time I passed one on the Italian. A little heads up Bob, the best way to show a poster they don't have an opinion worth listening to is to simply ignore them. Not start heehawing that nobody likes them!
