This is pissing me off: "But we must keep going and try to return to our normal performance and see where it takes us."

Our 'normal performance' is no longer what it was. He is making sure of that.

I'm in the 'give Vieira a chance until the end of the season' camp too.

Cue the same old faces coming in drily pointing out this is the same manager who won us a double last season.

They're on the way. I can smell their misplaced smugness.

Well he did, that's a fact as Rafa would say so no point in pretending it didn't happen.

Is it good enough right now? Is it fuck and in football, you are only as good as your last result and the pressure is well and truly on.

Just got in so will catch the game asap and give my thoughts then but given what's been written so far post game it was once again abysmal and im a firm believer that the buck stops at the top.

Smug enough for you?

First order of business when we bomb out of the CL and cannot catch Chelsea - Pellegrini out.

Whilst I agree, and await the 'I told you so' brigade, who will doubtless manage to forget having been stone cold wrong for 18 months, with similarly bated breath, the difference now is that I think team and manager look like a collective busted flush. That 2nd half display was little short of disgusting today, a disorganised, toothless, inept shambles. Part of it is due to a set of players, who no longer look motivated, and also lack the attributes to make the chosen system work, but ultimate responsibility for that on both counts lies with Pellegrini. I've supported him all the way through to this point, but if he was sacked this evening I wouldn't bat an eyelid

There's absolutely no way Simeone allows Barcelona the freedom of the Etihad and puts up with that pathetic display today. Oh for a manager who'll send out a side capable of being defensively disciplined, giving 100% committment to the cause, and performing with the tactical nous necessary to come through tests like today and midweek.

As one of the few who's never been convinced by Pellegrini, I'm not surprised by his recent radical ineptitude. Rodgers has used 3-4 tactical systems in the past 18 months, overachieved and developed young players in the process. That's a top coach, not Pellegrini shoehorning as many potential match winners into the 4-4-2 in the hope individual brilliance will out score the opposition.

Mancini was up against Ferguson's dynasty; there was a huge void left by his retirement, and Pellegrini inherited the strongest squad, spent another £100m on it and won the league. In reality, Chelsea had no strikers and Liverpool's galant effort fell short because of squad depth (Henderson's suspension killed them)

Give Rodgers our resources and he'd have eclipsed Pellegrini's achievement in the past 18 months, and with a willingness to utilise and develop British players as well. Pocchettino appears to be of a similar ilk, and attaining one of those fellas in the summer would be the wisest move.

Make no mistake .. our problems have nothing to do with our players.

The root of our problems is Manuel Pellegrini.

The man gets tactically outwitted all the time and it just sickening.

Please get him out.

Me neither

I'm more annoyed with players whose performances in the FA and League Cups were a disgrace, and some games in Europe.

This season is as bad as mancini's last season.

I'd ask Vieira to be the manager too. In fact I'd love that to happen. Whether he'd take it, I doubt.

We had one of those didn't we?
