He absolutely got the one he needed tonight.

We won at home and kept a clean sheet.

Can't imagine if he lost you'd be on here suggesting that the Leicester result doesn't matter. This is always the thing with these type of fans, if Pellegrini does something right then it was nothing but if he does something wrong then it's a disaster.

You've lost the ability to think rationally and impartially about him. If I was you, I'd withdraw from the conversation for a few weeks and see if you gain some perspective.

Jeez, I think it's you who needs a break again from the forum.

It was blatantly obvious what Jay was saying, nearly every post I've read from you over the last week or two has been inflammatory.

Give it a rest, it's very dull.

It's because the forum has been full of inane rubbish over the past couple of weeks and the best way to combat it is to point it out as inane rubbish that shouldn't be taken seriously.

I'd also like to point out that my post was mainly about the topic in hand with an aside to jay for the reasons that I said, whereas your post was totally about me and nothing to do with the thread. If you have a problem with somebody either PM them or keep it to yourself. Your post was totally unnecessary and exactly the shit that we're trying to stop. You can apologise via PM rather than taking up more space in the thread.

Fucking lol.

You'll be waiting a while for the pm....

Whilst there was more balance in the side with Navas on one side and Silva on the other we still lacked the key component of playing a 442 with a high line, which is pressing in the opposition's half. Navas did it, Silva mostly did it, but Bony, Aguero and Yaya didn't do it well enough or consistently enough. We give the opposition and easy ball out too often and because we're so high up the pitch they've got a lot of space to run into and chase a pass. A better team than Leicester would have punished us tonight.

Personally, I don't think you can get the likes of Yaya, Silva, Nasri, Bony and Dzeko to press like we need them to. They're either not fit enough, not mobile enough or not disciplined enough to do it each and every time we lose the ball. I'd suggest it might just be possible with a front 6 of the two Ferns, Navas, Milner, Jovetic and Aguero. However, we'd lose a lot of midfield control without Yaya and there's a lack of creativity in general in that line up. Plus Jovetic will likely never play another game for us, which like Nastasic means we'll get about half his real value when we sell him on.

If we're sticking with Pellegrini, we need to give him the tools do the job he wants his side to do. That could mean some major surgery in the summer. However, if the plan is for Pep to come in 2016, will we be trying to find players that can play in both Pellegrini's system and Pep's? Surely we won't want to be having to replace them again in 12 months? This would surely narrow down the options even further when scouting the market?

Txiki will need to earn his bacon this summer for sure.

Spanish champions have offered their title-winning coach an extension to 2022 but he wants to wait as pressure builds on Manuel Pellegrini at the Etihad

Diego Simeone is stalling on a new contract at Atletico Madrid - in the hope of getting the Manchester City job.

Simeone, 44, has been offered an extension until 2022 by Atletico after establishing himself as one of the best young coaches in world football.

But despite holding talks with the Spanish champions, Simeone has not signed because he fancies the City job and is prepared to wait until the summer to see what unfolds there.

City boss Manuel Pellegrini is under increasing pressure at the Etihad and if he fails to deliver a trophy this season there is an increasing likelihood he will go.

Simeone, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti and Bayern Munich's Pep Guardiola are seen as potential replacements.

Guardiola has publicly ruled himself out while City would still have to lure Ancelotti away from European champions Real - which may depend on him finishing this season empty-handed and not getting the assurances he needs from the Bernabeu's top brass.

While Ancelotti is a three-time Champions League-winning boss and may now be seen as the No1 choice, Simeone is clearly the man who fancies it most and may end up being City's next boss as a result.

Simeone led Atletico to the Spanish title last season despite the fierce competition from Real Madrid and Barcelona and defied the odds to reach the Champions League final where they lost to their great city rivals.

Former Argentina World Cup midfielder Simeone has proved his credentials on the European stage, which is where Pellegrini has been tripped up, despite winning the Premier League title.

Simeone is under contract until 2017 but is fiercely ambitious and is likely to be tempted if City do come calling at the end of the season.

Abysmal performance, abysmal atmosphere

Only positives to take were Mangala and Demichelis, and at a push Navas

3 points tho and a step closer to finishing second

Haha, you're forgetting the best player on the park who was shoulders above everyone else tonight. Also Joe Hart was second best player after their keeper.

Be careful what you wish for with SImeone.

Everyone at the club including the ball boys working for a result?
I'm sure the ball boy on the half way line (East Stand) nodded of for 10 minutes in the first half - not that I could blame him at that point.

Atletico ball boys contribute to the tempo of the game, if you don't think it'd benefit us watch them in a big game.
