Joe deserves the chance to prove he can adapt to what Pep wants.
He has kept us in many games with some brilliant saves and motm performances'.
He has been playing in a system where its get the ball upfield rather than play out from the back.
Getting rid would imho be a mistake but if that's what Pep decides then so be it.
Joe's a great shot stopper but his distribution has always been wank. How many times have we seen him run hell for leather to the edge of the penalty area clutching the ball and then stop and start looking round to see where he should kick it or throw it. Used to find it annoying and amusing at the same time. We just have to accept that everyone has their limitations and Joe's have unfortunately been reached as far as his City career is concerned.

Pretty clear to me that Hart will be moved and it will be Claudio Bravo as your new #1, Diego Alves will rotate with Mats at Barcelona

Hart, not sure how'd he fit at Everton since Koeman is a Cruyff disciple as well. Liverpool seem set themselves but someone will surely look to take advantage of his availability

With the players we have upfront he doesn't really have much to aim for does he.
Kun, Silva,Sterling,Kdb etc hardly the most imposing figures aerially are they.
Maybe it could be something that's been said by Joe but its all supposition unless we hear it from the club.
Obviously Pep has to make whatever decision he feels is for the best and we will all accept it.
If Joe goes then I hope he gets a fantastic reception if and when he returns to the Etihad.

He should never be aiming for the players up front. That's the probkem, he hoofs it long instead of picking smart passes out.

Under Pellers he didn't always have the option to play smart passes.
Its not rocket science for Joe to start playing short passes.
Most teams in Premier league will soon cotton on and start closing the space down to stop us playing out from the back.
I'm sure Pep will find ways to counteract this .
Football is a simple game really and goalkeepers are meant to save the ball, playing it out is a bonus.

This, in a nutshell is why Joe has to go. The difference between the system being successful or not will be milliseconds of decision making. The keeper needs to instinctevly distribute the ball and will not have time to think about it.

But what happens if the keeper is great at distributing the ball but is much weaker in shot saving, bravery and decision making.
Honestly cant believe so many people are happy to see Joe leave the club.
Not a dig at anybody in particular but it does seem we want player loyalty but
too many don't think its a two way street.

If the opposition doesn't have the ball, they cant shoot.

Just think of our games vs Pep's teams in the past where we couldn't get a kick. Have faith in him,

So you believe that if we play Barca,Madrid or B.Munich that we will sto them getting the ball and stop them shooting.
Would prefer that Joe stays and fights for his place as even if Bravo is technically better he will probably struggle with the more physical aspect.
To be fair I haven't seen him play so will bow to the consensus that he might be technically better than Joe.
Its good to he's other views on here without it resulting in a slanging match.
Slightly off topic would you play Joe or Willie tonight?
I would go for Joe but I don't have a problem with Willie Caballero either.

Pep is a perfectionist - to the extreme. Everything must be exactly right for Pep. Zero compromise.

For example, when Pep was in charge of Barca, he had a nutritionist assigned specifically to Messi. Messi could not eat anything unless Pep said it was OK.

So there is zero chance that Pep will settle for someone like Hart or Caballero playing in goal. His system demands that all 11 players on the pitch be highly skilled on the ball; it's a high press, possession oriented, center halves far forward, keeper excellent on the ball, we outnumber the opposition because we have 11 skilled players to their 10, keep it in the opponent's half, they cannot score because they never have the ball system.

There is zero chance that Hart or Caballero will ever feature in such a system once a suitable keeper is signed. ter Stegen, Neuer, Bravo, Valdes, etc. are a must - this has been absolutely clear to me ever since Pep took the reigns.

And yes, if we play Barca or Madrid it's going to be a huge clash. We will absolutely try to have the majority of possession. Against Madrid I can see this happening for sure - Madrid will play on the counter. Against Barca, it will likely be close to 50-50 possession.

Realistically I think it will take a while before we are playing the high intensity possession based football that Pep wants us to play, especially against teams like Barca and Bayern.
I have no doubts that we will play that way as he will change players, systems etc to ensure that we do.
Looking forward to the rest of the season and hopefully a few trophies.

I'm glad we signed Bravo from Barca instead of ter Stegen, as Bravo is a much better shot stopper.

But I thought I'd share this - it's amazing. Watch ter Stegen kick with both his left and right foot adroitly playing from the back even under pressure or when passing accuracy must be pin-point due to proximity of defenders to the receiving man. This is the sort of passing Pep wants from a keeper - which ter Stegen describes as finding a solution to a given situation - the same sort of language Pep uses. If ter Stegen can improve his shot stopping he'll be the best keeper in the world IMO.

You could say the same about Joleon Lescott, do you want him back or does Stones suit us more now?

Thank you for the link, was watching it open mouthed by the end. I knew about this before but now it directly affects us and we look at it more, i find it very exciting. Of course it is Bravo we have but it gives you a great idea what to expect.

Why the hell would I want Lescott in place of Stones....but Joe deserves a chance to adapt or is that too difficult for you to comprehend?
I prefer not to engage in a battle of wits with unarmed opponents bud
