No, I would say quite the opposite. Both are pretty silly individual awards IMO.
Your right, they don't tell the full story of the achievement. However they are the awards given to the player at the end of each season who has done their "job" better than any other I've score or prevent goals.
Suppose I'm just saying if a striker won the golden boot 4 out of 6 season, they'd be £80-£150m and touted as all time. Probably strawmaning a touch but sure you get my point

Hart was 19 when we bought him, an I don't recall him ever playing for the u21s - Matthewson was the regular keeper for them back then and Schmeichel was there too.

Other than that, I agree with the sentiment. If Hart could do the job required in this new era under Pep, then I'd love him to do it - in fact I think he'd go down as one of the greatest premier league keepers of all time if he could stay number 1 for the next 3 or 4 years under Pep. Probably win another couple of golden gloves and starting catching up with Cech's record number of clean sheets.

Unfortunately I've watched him for 6 years and I genuinely don't think that's going to happen. The club won't lose whatever sense of community it has left if he does leave though, no one player will ever determine that.
Well as I've said mate, I think we both hope you're wrong and I'm right. I think he's going to surprise a lot of people. Not long to go until we find out.

Sure I get your point and I certainly think Hart's value is should be squarely in the second tier of all Keepers worldwide (I would only have a small handful in the first tier).

I'd say the best going are Buffon, Neuer, De Gear, Hart and Cech. I'd have them in the top tier.

Then we really are just quibbling. Neuer, De Gea, and Courtois are tier 1 with the rest of those guys and ter Stegen and Lloris in tier two for me. Not much of a difference.

Right...so why was he only one clean sheet off winning it again last season. Wasn't the greatest defence was it.

There's a growing number of blues who seem to believe that the only thing that matters is the effectiveness of the 14 players that may be called upon on match day. That's fine, that's their opinion, but I've always seen City as more than just a mechanism to win trophies. I see it as a genuine community club, a family without sounding to corny about it. It was a big deal to me that Pep kept Brian Kidd on, not because of his tactical knowledge being the key to more wins, but because he's been there since the start of the new era of City, it's comforting to see him on the bench. Chappy still on City tv, Mike Summerbee still greeting our newest members. Everything we've built for the kids, from the ground up, the ethos of being a well rounded person they're instilling in the kids we train from so young.
I see Joe as one of our graduates, I know he was 17 when we bought him, but all the same, he played in our lower team and kept Given out of the sticks when he broke through. He's a example to them lads now of what you can achieve. Zabba and Vinny are the same to me, they're men of the club, not just the starting 11. I know this is an outdated view point, but it's part of the reason we all stayed city fans through all them lean years, there was more to us than just success, we we're all in it together, with a song in our hearts and a smile on our faces. Really hope we haven't see the last of them days, there are somethings more important than trophies.

With you all the way, I couldn't believe after the Arsenal match that Guardiola was pushing Joe Hart of all people toward our fans, Joe is the first one there nearly every time. For someone who is supposed to have studied our history and watched our matches and allegedly wants to continue the community feel that he didn't know this.

The three players that stand out for me as the epitome of the City I've known and loved for over 60 years are Joe Hart, Pablo Zabaleta and Vincent Kompany. They are City through and through. I just don't understand this turning on Joe Hart that has been building since the close of the season.

It's all opinions, but Courtois has worse distribution stats than Hart, he had a very poor season last year, worse than Cech IMO. De Gea only marginally better and not in Neuer's class.
