Hart watched our defence get torn apart in the first half, where they should have scored 3 if it wasn't for poor finishing. Maybe that's why he was reticent to pass short? If the defenders are more capable on the ball there is more chance of getting away with it. Hopefully Stones will give the defence more confidence but we must expect an energetic high press from the opposition.

The side wasn't sent out as 11 players to beat Arsenal, it was clearly an exercise in passing it out from the back etc.

7 league games for Barcelona...

23 champions league games including the champions league final and 2 games against us in the last 16.

You must remember this....

So he gets a game in the cup matches like Willy? I am sure he will remember Hart playing some blinders against his own team.

Watching foreign football teams on Sky or BT, unless they are playing City, has something between very little and zero interest for me.

Do you also sing the praises of that other star of satellite TV, 'CR7'?

Been lots of talk in the media in the last 12 months or so about how English goal keeping has fallen behind - I guess this relates to our focus on shot stopping - above distribution etc. it's interesting that Pep (appears) has a completely diifent view of Joe to the rest of us - although Mancini was rumored not to be a fan either.

A lot of short memories about how bad willy was last season lol,he is a car crash most of the time

Agreed Karen. Hart has no competition with Willy as number 2.

Willy is an average keeper that would struggle at any premier league club.

IF we bring in a new keeper it would be a clear statement by Pep.
I think the keeper is a special position and needs a maximum of backing and faith from the manager. He should be playing every match as he is able to play a hole long season in contrast to field players. Cup games could be left for the 2nd keeper, but I don't know how Pep feels about that.

For Joe it would be a serious situation and in full consequence he would have to think about his future being England's no 1. He surely wants to play and certainly it would be difficult for the fans and the club to have him benched, having an eternal discussion about that every pre match.

City really need a quick clear statement about this key position. I think most of the fans could accept a new keeper as Pep must have a right to develop HIS style of football at City. But at the same time the club has to do that in a most respectful way as Joe is a City legend and always will be.

An exercise I think went pretty poorly for the most part, particularly at GK, where both were very shaky.

Once the ball got to the fullbacks I thought it went through midfield better.

Joe Hart has won the Premier league's golden glove award 4 times out of the last 6 seasons. What is the matter with you?

Should be proud to have him as a keeper. makes the odd mistake. Well that's football. Everyone does

Keepers were awful as was Kolarov getting stuck on his left foot & trying to kick it through people rather than use his right. But I thought a lot of other stuff was very good. Looked better with the kids on imo though.

You seriously don't get what we are discussing & why, even after the number of times it's been spelled out ?

Your right. He was.

However that is a very short term vision and the type of approach that will see Joe be gone in 12 months if he carries on.

You have to listen to Pep. He will allow the mistakes, as long as you trust him. If you blatantly ignore instruction then you will have a problem.

Joe launched 3 balls +40 yards on Sunday. In a friendly where it doesn't matter you should be making even more effort to carry out the system. Not panic and scraping everything that is asked of you.

Joe needs to start learning fast. Both Willy and him have poor distribution but at least Willy is attempting to do it, and by doing so will get better at it much quicker than Joe will.

Ain't going to happen this season boys & girls.
We haven't got a space for an extra foreigner in the Champions League squad unless we sell more than the three we currently have to.
Good news as Joe deserves a season to prove himself to Pep after all he has done for us .
Not that the haters and boo boys will like it mind.

We all know Joe is a fantastic keeper (warts and all) but his game appears not to be up to scratch for a Pep system

For months most were ecstatic that pep was going to be our manager and several pointed out that there would be casualties, and maybe big name casualties at that. Are people now thinking differently about Pep?

Nobody is disputing his record. This discussion is about his biggest weakness and how that needs to be his biggest strength under Pep.

Your misunderstanding the conversation/argument.

I dont know anyone on here who could be classed a hater or boo boy. Are you getting confused with those who see a bigger picture - no?

Why did he play long balls when he came on against Arsenal? If ever there was a time...
