Marc-Andre ter Stegen

Well having just seen Pep's pre match, it was a ringing non endorsement of Joe's future at the club. Clearly he's not a shoe in for the keeper job this season & the 'unthinkable' is not unthinkable to Pep.

i haven't seen the video myself but if this is right -

It's not great for Joe.

What do people think we would get for Joe and what would Ter Stegen cost? I know he has a 67 mill buyout clause but surely that's fucking ridiculous. I never thought I would be typing that but if we've gone balls out for Pep he has to be backed. I can't see who would be in for Hart other than perhaps Everton who now have some cash so they say.

£30m and Hart = Stegen

Barcelona wouldn't want him.

We might get Everton to buy him - one of the ITKs (Tolmie?) said Everton were throwing around £40m as a figure.

If we even got £30 it would be good work.

Just guessing mate.
I would say though,I'd be pretty sure it would cut Joe up to play against us twice, possibly 3 times a season.

In a season where I'm looking forward to so many different facets of our game, the goalkeeper situation is the most interesting one for me. Although I appreciate Rome wasn't built in a day and all that jazz it will be very telling how Joe approaches the game (if he's picked) and how different the movement is in front of him.
I hope he proves me completely wrong and takes to the new system like a duck to water.

Pep sounded very unsure what to say re Hart in that presser. Certainly did not back him 100% as his 1st choice keeper. Wouldnt surprise me if he's off.

I'm more anxious than interested.

It feels like a monumental part of the team to not have sorted by the start of the season. I'd like to have it resolved either way.

I find it weird that we have't been linked to more keepers considering our apparent will to bring one in. It will be very difficult to get ter Stegen.

Although Hart is English - and should thus command quite a premium - I can't see any of ManU, Chelsea, Arsenal, Spurs or Pool, spending a huge amount for Hart as all of them have quality keepers (though Courtois has been rumored to be unhappy in the past so maybe they'd be willing to spend a lot on Hart).

Other sides in the EPL won't spend huge on a keeper. Nor will sides outside the EPL.

I guess this is also a worry for him regarding his international standing

Love Hart and wouldn't want him to go for anything other than a ridiculous sum. That being said, getting in Ter Stegen as a replacement for Caballero would be nothing but a positive move.

Having those two fight it out to be number one would be fantastic and I'd hope they'd improve each other.

I'm ok with it. A weight has been lifted from the club with the appointment of Pep and if it takes a little while for him to get across what he wants and how he wants it I'm fine with that because I know there's a plan. Although we've lifted some silverware the last couple of years I've not enjoyed it.
