yeah I kind of didn't read it all lolWell it’s only age if that’s the only bit you choose to read. We paid 42 for a player injured a lot of last year to come in and play back up. But 50m for a full back which is quite often the going rate isn’t. Weird. His age matters of course. We pay 50m and get 6 or 7 years out of him then it’s a bargain. here’s some rationale, the best club in England want him and have wanted him all summer, because we’ve scouted him and really rated him. 30m is fine for us to value him at, just don’t waste a summer chasing a club who aren’t budging. Move on weeks ago.
As I said before though - value = risk and I guess we were happy taking a punt for £30m but not for £50m which seems logical...
For all we know it could also be financial... needing the money for next year..?
