Marc Cucurella

I just think that even though our passing and movement won't necessarily change, it was noticeable on Saturday that Haaland is looking to run onto through balls.
If we can do that we need to do it quicker, without worrying about getting the ball onto a players correct foot.

Grealish needs to be more assertive. I want him to play like he did against Real Madrid away, running at defenders and taking shots, he almost scored twice in thst game and looked a real threat.

Think one game is not enough to draw conclusions about the chemistry between Haaland and the team. My guess is some players are not in form yet and Kevin had an off day. Nevertheless, we created 5 big chances against Liverpool. Normally, taking into account the other chances, that's enough to score 3 goals...

It's not my views I am commenting on. I don't like seeing people give snippets of information in good faith and then if it doesn't happen they are then bullied to a point where they no longer contribute

There is a list of people on here that has happened too. I am for people having different views but not those who only respond with sniping and belittling of others
Well said

You’re right it’s puzzling.

Could be that he wasn’t or isn’t the top target.

I think we perhaps have a range of targets for any one role with a price target. The team bid up to that target and move on if it doesn’t look like getting done for the ‘right price’.…..

Alternatively, maybe we just felt for the money he was a risk….one cap for Spain, no CL experience, not a guaranteed start….
I am thinking on similar lines....maybe we had a target that we were prepared to spend more on but they are not obtainable at present. We then offer what we believe is a realistic price for Cucurella but that hasn't worked either

This has been a very unusual transfer market where we seem to have an abundance of profit that we are seemingly wanting to retain

It has still been an excellent one for buys and good money for 2 players into their last year of contract

If I recall with Ruben we couldn't do a deal when first asking but the opportunity arrived late in the window. I am sure they are looking at something akin to that now, if we can't get Cucurella.

The figures from transfer market aren’t right though as they have missed off a number of EDS sales
And they don't include fees and in the case of Haaland I would think they would be huge, not that I have an issue in that deal.

Cucuella proved himself to have an excellent first season in the PL. Mendy was great for Monaco but proved himself to be a complete flop for us. I very much doubt we'd be making the same mistake but every signing is a gamble. For whatever reason we have baulked at paying what Brighton want

And considering how much City have made from players sold this summer i doubt they need any donation to make up the shortfall to sign Cuco. I can't get my head round the situation we now find ourselves in going into the new season having sold Zinchenko with no replacement.
Every deal is a risk whatever the fee, Arsenal have just given us 80m for 2 players, no guarantee they will be good deals, sh1t happens, some transfer failures simply don't add up.

When Mendy signed I would say 99% of our fan base were excited by the signing.

I like Cucurella a great deal but those intimating that this has been a debacle cannot be reacting to anything coming from our side. Culling together the limited information from Twitter, he appears to have been a player of interest. We sounded him out and may have agreed personal terms. We made a bid to Brighton and they said no. We made another bid and they so no, here is the price. We said no. I see no way to reach a chaotic conclusion from those events - if we have a price that we won't go beyond, and the seller won't accept it, then we move on. Just because a Twitter warrior is offended by our approach and chooses to write a load of bedroom bile, so what?

We are short at full back and as long as we have an alternative and bring them in, I see no problem whatsoever with our actions. As for Zin, he wasn't a prisoner and chose his time to go. We respected him enough to grant his wish, exactly as we should.
