Would rather see McAtee develop with our squad than with another. There is no guarantee he'd get minutes as a loan player where clubs have no real interest in developing him. Most PL teams have full squads and he'd be a back-up option, no different to here. Yes we have better players in the squad, but more invested in his development too. Plus, as it stands we have 3 spare spaces for registered senior players and a squad smaller than most, so he might have more of a chance at getting minutes here than elsewhere, while showing Pep his development.
Agree and there are also 5 subs this season plus the WC. Think he would get some game time here

Had a conversation today with someone at the club who is well informed and it will be done before the charity shield, a player is mulling over a proposal from our side, presumably fringe/academy; I wouldn’t be at all surprised to see Mcatee being loaned out, especially with Peps appreciation for potters work and it would be perfect to get him minutes in a similar playing style at the top level, that would be sparse in comparison here for 12 months!
Huge, though it would leave us very light in midfield.

Just to be clear: The deal is done between us, Brighton and Cucurella? It’s just this mystery city player that is unsure?

In fairness a lot of City supporters were not to happy when Sweep was sold to the Chavs away back.

Not any I knew, to be fair. Granted, a fair few would have been gutted but I do think our situation was rather different as SWP was our best player. Our main attacking threat. A player who scored iconic goals against United. Brighton could lose a full back they have had for a year.

Regardless, fans who act like jilted lovers when a player wants to leave are a little odd.

Appears so from there info and it’s invariably bang on; the ‘mystery player’ won’t determine the outcome though, imo, more a sweetener but if said player isn’t keen i’d be amazed if it still didn’t happen, will just be with a few extra $$$

Thing is a lot of people are saying Brighton have a reserve price of 45m which they will not budge to far from. Our bid, if one exists, of 30m is a long way short of what would be needed. I would say the minimum Brighton will accept is about 40m. We probably need to get this sorted one way or the other before the season starts so if necessary we have time to look elsewhere.

They can have a reserve of £45m but it is hardly derisory to offer £30m. It's a negotiation where the player allegedly wants to leave and play only for City (rumours, of course). Of course, City are going to go in with a bid at the lower end.

I expect it could well end up being c£45m as Brighton have more leverage but we will see.

Did you not see the reaction on here when Garcia let Pep know he wants to leave a year in advance even giving us an opportunity to sell him and get some money for him instead of stringing us along?

To sell the young player or loan?
