He has developed into just as much of a left back as he is a midfielder. The issue here was he wasn't quite of a good enough level to cement the jersey, hence why we are buying a specialist who is.

In another, lesser, team,Zinc will do a very decent job in the role.
He's a brilliant signing for Arsenal, which tells you where we are in the pecking order of world football right now. We were willing to let him go because we are confident that we will succeed without him. People talk about this transfer in a lback and white point of view, talking about him as a left back, and getting embroiled in arguments left and right his ability as full back.
Zinchenko is an accomplished midfielder who has played a role for us, successfully for the most part and won over the fans because, What's not to like about the lad.
He was never going to get in our midfield though and he was never going to cement his place as LB.
This transfer made sense on every level.

Because, Brighton wasn't satisfied with the offer. But it's not objectively low.

City concluding he is a 30 million player is in line and above what the current market of Leftbacks are going for. I.e. all less than 30 million. Adding a ,5 million English tax to an average of less than 25 million brings it to about 30 million. That's an honest evaluation. It's not like they offered a price below what the general good LB is going for. They didn't.

Brighton wanting more has no bearing on that valuation. They are within their rights to want more. But 30 million is objectively NOT low.

Don't think people in football generally offer what they think a player is worth. They offer what it should take to get them. Sometimes that is more than they are 'worth', sometimes it is less, sometimes happens to coincide.

30m, if true, was too low, you clearly can't get him for that. By no means a pisstake, but not near enough either.
