Fair point - others .......ahem.....more knowledgeable than me might rate him highly but I still stand by the point I would rather spend the money elsewhere.
There are gems and squad players.......when push comes to shove KDB, Phil, Ederson, Kyle, Dias, Haaland all start every time. You can't say the same about Phillips and Cucurella.
I'm reluctantly accepting 50 mill for Ake, reluctant because he's getting better and reluctant because I don't want to spend 50 mill on a replacement. Should be a promising youngster or good old hand

In the last 2 year we have lost Torres, Gabriel, Kun and Raz and replaced them with a superstar and 2 pretty unproven young players. Unproven in the sense that when the stakes are really high and you're in the shit and need to stand up , we have yet to see that from Alvarez or Palmer.
Compared to the strength of Zinchenko v Villa and the Ake heroics at Athletico

we desperately need a left-back, its the one place we are weak (we've fixed the other place which was DMF). Going into the season with Zin and Cancelo isn't good enough. We are a player down given Mendy's situation. It needs rectifying more than any other position

Prices move! £25-30m is the price Notts Forest are paying for hopefuls from foreign leagues, in the hope they can stay in the league…. It’s not what clubs at the top end of said league have to pay for proven players. Also, who gives a shit what the price is? Our club couldn’t be better run, so if we pay whatever we pay, I’d be delighted if we get the player.

Just have to see against Villa the difference it made bringing on Zinc. Being a natural left footer gave us more balance against a side that knew we were playing a player who would not keep wide and mostly nullified us in the first half.

How do you know Cucurella is not a gem? You're also omitting Foden and Grealish in that 2 years ago one was making his way and the other wasn't here...I think a front 6 of Haaland, Mahrez, Foden, Grealish, Alvarez and Palmer with Bernardo also an option is plenty good enough...would i object to one more attacking player coming in...absolutely not, but who?...and not if it means we don't get a LB or replace Ake (if he were to go)...who are we talking about?
Leao, Antony, Gnabry, Zaniolo, Felix, Oyarzabal, Diaby?...Would someone like Bowen or Olmos fit the bill?...thoughts?...
