I suspect that he convinced himself that no-one else was stupid enough to pay £50m for Cucurella, and assumed that Brighton would just cave in.Great, so why did he spend all summer pursuing him?

Yes, weird how we pay 100m for Jack who is realistically worth 65m. Then refuse to pay 50m for someone worth 35m. Conundrum
Jack was never 'worth' more than £50m imo realistically or otherwise. We paid double.
Riyad Mahrez was never 'worth' more than £35m imo. We paid almost double.
Cucurella is 'worth' no more than £30m imo. Chelsea will most likely pay more than double.
The only conundrum here is how easily these fools are parted with money. Bloom must be pissing himself laughing over this.
