Marc Cucurella

IF they sign their final targets they'll have had a good window but 2 of the 3 most important deals are not done and the season is starting. They have brought in a bunch of players who will need time to gel and almost none of them were their first choices.
I think they've decided they'll spend the money to upgrade no matter what. I don't agree with such an aggressive predisposition personally. But it doesn't strike me as scattered. They are targeting the positions of weakness in their squad.

No but those positions surely take priority.

Cucurella is a decent signing just wildly overpriced.
They wanted Lewandoski, but he wanted Barca. Now him going to Barca opens of Auba. So it makes sense that Auba is of interest. I think Sterling and Koulibally are significant and important signings. I don't rate Currucella as highly as most so. But considering how highly rated he was here, of he is as good as claimed, he is a great signing for them. And yes, he is overpriced. So will Fofana when they sign him. They are getting the City+ prices.

They have to hope none of these guys flop at the prices they are paying.

When you look at the fee Chelsea paid we've almost give Zinchenko away.

If Cucurella is worth 62m, Zinchenko has to be worth 60m atleast.

Cucurella might be a better Left Back, but Zinchenko is a better Footballer.
Hmmm, not sure about that. Neither of them are worth the numbers you stated. Cucurella is a specialist left back Barca bred and Premier League blooded and is worth quite a bit more than Zinchenko. However the new Chelsea owners have lost the plot and are throwing money around left right and centre with no clear strategy, a little like Mark Hughes after the takeover. Brighton are the beneficiaries of that madness and good luck to them, I am pretty sure they knew what was coming when they told us to get stuffed.

It was a solid debut by Cucurella. He made a couple of good crosses & slotted in well with their passing & looked comfortable at Chelsea's level in a standard/scrappy match that was more about graft & getting the first game out of the way. Cucurella wasn't outstanding, but I'd have been happy if he'd done that for us.

Sterling was in & out of the game & aside from that one clear cut chance which was brilliantly tackled, he didn't do a lot else, but he was played out of position anyway. If the chavs are gonna play with wingbacks, where's Sterling gonna play if they get their striker situation sorted?

Chelsea were solid & controlled possesion, but didn't really damage Everton outside of the penalty.

Koulibaly was a fuckin monster! He was my MoTM by far.

Anthony Gordon was Everton's standout player in a workman-like team that were more about effort & endeavour than skill & creativity.

I thought Iwobi looked very good in that deeper role. However, unless Everton get a clinical forward & some creativity in the midfield, they could be in trouble again this season.
