Marc-Vivien Foe.
Now that's a name I haven't heard many talk about in a long time..
Just seen it was 22 years ago today that he collapsed and died it's mad where the time goes, he'd actually be 50 years old if still alive which made me just think, wow!
One of the things that pissed me off during his year here was the biased media rearing it's ugly head not just against us but MVF too, never forget Foe (usually a DM) got ripped off bigtime for Prem POTM award when he scored the joint most.
They bizarrely instead decided to give it Alan Shearer despite him having fewer goal involvements, even though it was agreed Foe's goals and performances that month were colossal, it somehow went to Shearer when most disagreed with it and a few months later Foe was dead.
Remember seeing him collapse and hoping he's alright, it was a tragedy way before his time his poor wife and kids.
I know people tend to over hype someone after they die but he was a very good player there's not many like him around nowadays, personally I wouldn't have minded his physical presence and leadership in our midfield last season in Rodri absence.
It's not revisionism to say he was a top player especially in the leadership sense, Foe was a born captain and maybe he wouldn't be perfect in a Pep team style wise but last season in times of trouble, then a player of Marc Vivien Foé's sheer presence calibre and attitude would've been valuable.
R.I.P. Marc Vivien Foé gone but not forgotten, he'll always be remembered here.
