I hope your right Kaz, in fact I'm banking on it!;) ......but we cant keep looking back to last season, as if everything is going to fall into place again, 2017-18 season was special but its gone.....This is a new season, its going to be alot harder and filling club identified areas of weakness in the squad would go a long way to help. Hopefully thats what we still trying to do with one week left in the window.

Completely agree Karen....I dont think anyone is having a full on panic we just talking about the club has identified an area of need and getting cover/long term replacement for a guy (Fern) that is 33years old and cant be expected to play another 40-50game season as top level week in, week out...

Because the over 50’s and people still remembering when we were shite say that some only want shiny new toys etc! If dinho gets injured or suspended then we have square pegs for round holes and in the champions league we will get done again! The best in the world in every walk of life improve every year and that’s how you stay ahead of the game. If we do need someone in January it will be even more expensive than doing it now!

I know but that can also be a ref for us fans....if we not careful we also fall into the trap of thinking we were good enough last season, so we will be again....thats why refreshing areas of the squad is so important, especially when we going to need to "manage" game time for some players to maximise their impact, Fern being one of them. I'm not shooting down your opinion, just enjoying the discussion!;)

thats in the past. We don't want to be like Liverpool hanging onto past glories. But also there is no point buying stop gaps or only "OK" players. We need top quality and that kind of quality is not necessarily available now. When there is though, we have to go for that player, even if we have to overpay. Can't miss out again.

And considering our main challenger this season is supposed to be Liverpool who finished last season with a record of -25 points, -22 GF, +11 GA, -33 GD compared to us I say bring it on.
