Marcos Lopes

I'm so dissapointed that usually when a young player comes on scores and there is a completely OTT thread on Bluemoon to wax the dolphin too.

But for what its worth I thought he looked a good prospect hopefully we can get some weak opposition in the next round and he'll get another chance to come on score hopefully.

Was impressed with him in pre season. Doubt he'll get many opportunities this season but one to watch.

What in particular impressed you?

Good close control, and for a kid he wasn't letting himself be pushed off the ball by bigger opponents.

...good work ethic and prepared to stick his foot in and press the opposition.

Be interesting to see if he develops into a Prem footballer.

Cheers, your correct about the control,he has great technique and looks very comfortable with the ball.
I have to disagree about the physicallity,he did ok but i felt being bullied off the ball was a standout weakpoint at the time, saying that,he looks strong, and being in the Aguero mould build wise,i expect he will very quickly develop that side of himself.

One thing is certain,he is as exciting a talent as we have had.

EVERYBODY RELAX!!!

HIS GOAL DOES NOT REALLY INDICATE ANYTHING

HE IS YOUNG, TALENTED ,HIGH RATED AND HAS CONSISTENTLY IMPRESSED IN TRAINING AND DURING THE PRESEASON.

THE FACT THAT HE SCORED TODAY DOES NOT BARE ANY SIGNIFICANCE APART FROM BEING A GREAT MOMENT FOR THE PLAYER PERSONALLY.

Shame we did not see suarez as well.

No one said he will be the next Ronaldo, but we are hoping that he can be as good as Sinclair or AJ.

No good then!

I've been to see him, and the rest of the team, play at Hyde a few times. He's very good. Pozo is good too.

He is indeed a really good prospect but I suspect won't appear much for the first team this season. We have some serious talent at youth level, most of them from abroad at the moment unfortunately (Evans being an exception if he can develop further), and I'm intrigued to see how many can make it as Rekik, Suarez, Guidetti (when fit), and Razak are now very much on the fringe of the first team and involved with the first team squad regularly. Time to get Suarez out on loan I think, he is a year older than Lopes so surely ready for the next step.

Every goal matters, apparently.
Contextualization. The theme of this thread is about hes prospects and talents in light of his participation today and not about the result and scoreline.

Ok sure well in that context he's done himself a lot of good by scoring on his debut today. He will get plenty of mentions in the media where otherwise he would have had very little. Confidence and mental attitude in yourself goes a long way in sporting ability and what better way to improve that than to score a goal on debut and get the plaudits?

Suggesting it bears no significance other than something to phone home and tell his mum about is a load of arse.

Thank you all who saw him play today and also Thank you to all of you who have seen him play in the EDS.
However, I'm staggered as to the amount of experts on here who claim to know him.
Similarly, during the match thread, when there was no video stream available, there were some comments complaining that GMR were going around the grounds and expecting them to complete wall to wall commentary on City.
Anyone from Manchester will know that this has been done for years on end without a complaint.
Welcome to supporting City 80's style and while I appreciate you all following City, life without immediate knowledge can be great!

its unbelievable just how young some of these players are when they make their debuts, i dont no much about this lad other than what i have seen on highlights etc, but to make his debut after literally only just turning 17 he must be highly thought of.

He must be close to being our youngest ever goal scorer surely??

That goal for Lopes today will make him feel brilliant tonight.Great start to his Manchester City career

By playing 16 and 17 year olds against 19 and 20 year olds, we are preparing players like Lopes quicker for the rigors of professional football I believe. That's why our poor U18 and U21 results are not really telling the true story. Results will suffer when you have loads of 16 and 17 year olds up against loads of 19 and 20 year olds, but they are adapting to a challenge beyond their age level, against more developed players. Lopes is 17 and has been prolific in U21 matches, I think he may even be our top scorer or at least one of them.

I will be honest I had never heard of him, nice to score on his début

Any more info on him?

Plays for the Eds quite regular, try to get to Hyde usually a 7pm kick off on a Thursday evening only £3. I think you will be quite suppressed what other youngster could possibly break through to the first team. Lopez should be quite a talent once he has a bit more experience.

He has been 16 all season as well.
Pozo and Ntcham are 16 too, Evans and Bytiqi 17

Seen him a couple of times this year and for me always stands out from the other youngsters.
Reminds me of Overmars

I've seen him play a few for EDS, but what current footballer would you compare him to?
Somewhere between a silva and a hazard

That's more fucking like it, and can I throw Messi in there too for good measure.
