Januzaj isn't fit to lace Lopes boots. End.

Realistically Janujaz is much further developed and i'd,reluctantly, suggest a bigger talent.

Its only a bit of confidence and a run in the in the first team fants that's keeping his developement subdued. United have no choice but to play the kids due to there lack of fit players and that's the only reason (on a developement) level why he's a bit ahead of Lopez. But I know where your coming from.

Januzaj is looking a better prospect by a long way, for whatever reason. Having said that Januzaj isn't looking like a world-beater so I wouldn't get carried away just yet if I was a 'rag'.

I didn't see anything in Lopes to get me excited.

We shouldn't get carried away with this 'home grown' thing. If they aren't good enough then that has to be he end of it.

Move on.

No point in sentimentality. Just like all of us, we'd like to have been brain surgeons but didn't have the wherewithal.

Live with it an move on.

That is quite the judgement after 20 minutes.

Are you a Tesco buyer, by chance?

I sometimes frequent the place often referred to a Tescos.

Is that relevant to my appraisal of Lopes who I have watched many times and not just his cameo against West Ham ?

Your genius scout ?

didn't do much but to be fair by the time he came on we were playing at walking pace. He was much more impressive against Wigan when the he started in a side playing with tempo

You've watched him play in competitive matches many times with the first team?

I must have lost months to an alien abduction.

Jokes aside, my point is that players develop differently when played at higher levels. Sink or swim, as it were, so he needs more than a few cameos to prove whether or now there is talent equal to our ambitions.

I think I see your point Seb.

He's not shown much other than the ordinary at EDS level or on the few occasions he has featured in the first team but he 'might' still be quality nevertheless because he shouldn't be judged on his performance. Is that right ?

I think you'd have a fair few who have watched Lopes with the EDS (including, it seems, a certain Chilean) that may disagree with the "ordinary" assessment. I'll admit that the one thing I can't do from my current residence is watch anything other than all of the EDS and U18 highlights on the OS but I have heard and read very good things from those who have been able to watch him in person.

I also don't think anything about his first team performances, especially given the situations in which they arose, precludes talent.

It seems a very rash judgement to me but perhaps I am wrong.

Don't compare him to Janujaz, at that age his build gives him an advantage against older players compared to Lopes.

Also Lopes' play is more suited to the centre of the park so has more to tackle than playing on the wings.

Was hard for him to settle into the game today as by the time he came on the team had moved down a couple of gears and he was trying to make an impact in a higher gear than the others.
