See also Captain Tom. Give him a knighthood for raising money for an institution that they've spent 10 years chronically underfunding. Because awards make people think they are listening without them having to actually do anything to address the issue. What I don't get is why the Government gave Rashford an MBE - presumably for his campaigning - then voted against what he was trying to do! It defies any kind of logic.
Kids should be in school imo between 8-5:30 allowing parents to work, during these hours they should be being taught the basics regarding food from learning to cook good nutritious food, learning how to grow vegetables and they should also be going a lot more physical activity during the day. This in the long run will save billions of pounds per year for the health service, can be funded by initiatives and using school leavers who go into college etc for sports science degrees and chef courses.OK I am one of those with half a brain. We as a nation now seem to think it is a right that schools provide breakfast and diner for any/every child every single day of the year. Why not tea as well ? and all paid for by the Government/taxpayer.
It is the job of schools to educate children not feed them.
If a child is missing 2 meals a day then the family he is from are having bigger problems than missing breakfast.
Every supermarket has a box by the door where free food is donated, every town/City have food banks. Are we saying the parents wont use these or is it they cant be arsed preparing a meal (2) for their child.
*MehI don't care who he plays for. What a top, top lad. Well done that man. Shame on you you useless, Tory twats*
Not sure which petition you mean, but given there was a parliamentary vote this week then presumably any subsequent petitions now are effectively meaningless.Excuse the ignorance. The petition. Once it’s reached the 100,000 required to make it discussed in parliament, does it add weight to have more signing it is it irrelevant?
Allegiances set aside on this one. Fair play to the boy
People wouldn’t think twice about trying to eradicate poverty in Africa yet someone wants to feed kids in the UK.... fuck me I'm either getting really soft in my old age or there are some real cunts about. Why make it political or have you just decided I am a Tory ?
Do you think it is acceptable that children are in a position of near starvation and the answer is to get the schools to feed them ?
Poverty needs to be tackled but it is not solved by free school breakfasts. That is a silly, simplistic answer. If the children are missing out on 2 of their three meals a day there is something very wrong with their home life and that is what needs addressing.

Ideology, probably, but we need to
a) look after the long term future of kids and
b) find ways of saving billions of pounds to ease the pain for future generations.
The fact this government during the worst crisis since the second world war would let children go hungry is nothing short of a national disgrace and they should, but won’t, hang their collective heads in shame. It’s never ever the child’s fault if he’s fed a shite diet, causing issues like adhd, or not fed at all.
