Marcus Rashford lobbying govt to help vulnerable children

Sorry to disappoint, but the Co-op have already confirmed they will be contributing over summer and asking other supermarkets to do the same, in lieu of government support.

Whether you want to credit Rashford himself or his PR team, thousands of children in difficult situations will be helped as a result.

That's a good thing surely?

It's actually perfect given supermarkets supply food etc and Rashford deserves major credit for securing this to add to the 200,000 meals he's already generated.

Just watched a segment on BBC News about Rashford. He seems genuine enough.

Whether you think he’s a hero or not is up to you.

However, if you’re the bbc and you’re trying to garner the public’s support about people in poverty and underfed kids, probably best not to put a significantly obese and clearly overfed mother front and centre as the poster child parent concerned about underfed kids.

David Beckham will be absolutely furious with the amount of attention Rashford is getting. I’d love to hear what he truly thinks about this. I’d imagine it’d be just like his outburst when he didn’t get his Knighthood!

It is indeed typical in so much you even dare to stray from the party line and the pile on ensues.

He will be managed by a PR company as will all of his social media accounts and nothing and i do mean nothing is ever done without asking does it harm me? and what do i get out of it?

Its a worthy cause and a great thing to do but my post and a few others who have agreed is about the PR side of it all.

Just ask the Chilean miners or Liverpool players taking the knee with their title sponsor proudly on display in the background. Both great Human stories and both done to attract publicity and revenue.

Kids will benefit from this which is great but so too will Rashford and that is the point being made.

In fairness whatever clown got Liverpool to take a knee in support of anti-racism movement deserves sacking. All it did is remind everyone of the hypocrisy of club legend King Kenny and club Captain Jordan Henderson wearing t-shirts in support of Suarez.

A footballer with a track of been a prick and who was willing to bite and disgrace the club to lower his transfer fee. Nothing will convince me that was not a premeditated attempt to get out of that club. What a fucking hill to die on.

Well done to Rashford for bringing up this issue which is of great importance every summer holiday and this one in particular.
He has certainly brought the matter to public attention and BBC Breakfast show is certainly bringing Marcus Rashford of Manchester United to our attention mentioning his name and showing his pictures incessantly. They didn't mention to shoe horn him into the pictures of pretty ladies in pretty dresses at Ascot so my eyes are recovering from the onslaught of red.
I hope the kids get their meals through his efforts but l expect the BBC will be campaigning for a statue of Sir Marcus Rashford social reformer with regular stories of City fans threatening to tear the statue down and throw it in the Irwell.
It does seem that football clubs don't do much about the welfare of the kids registered to them if they are reliant on free school meals.
