best night of his life winning a semi? after he won the league with city? seems a bit wrong to me.

Are you kidding? It's his country. He has been dreaming of this since he was a kid. He has always been victimised as a black italian. Tonight is the night that they will make him a part of the country forever.

Love the mad bastard. If football is on telly I will watch it but unless it's us, England or whoever is playing manyoo I don't really give a fuck who wins. But when he screamed that second in I went crazy. Neighbours must think I'm half Italian.

Oh Alan just what has Mario ever achieved?

Went absolutely mental when he thumped that second one in. Unbelievable finish.
Said it numerous times in the past on here and been given grief by others, but his movement is world class, easily the best asset to the game. It's no coincidence that in two games he's been able to get in behind defences that hold two champions league winners and a premier league winner and the best full back in world football in Philip Lahm.

With that performance, he has done more than most of the best players in the world that are currently plying their trade.

Still got my concerns about the lad, but there really should be no doubt that his talent is worth persevering with.

Must be very unusual for Mario to wake up to all this universal acclaim. He deserves it because those were two awesome striker's goals.

Hopefully he will be able to handle this

And hopefully he gets some more respect from pundits and footballing officialdom. He's been a soft target for card happy refs and pundits baying for blood with their slow motion replays

Imagine being brought up as an Italian, but because of the colour of his skin many of his 'fellow countrymen' wont accept him as such......

He wears the colours of his nation, but in the past his own 'fellow countrymen' chant song from the stands that he may wear the Italian colours, but he'll never be Italian....

But if Balotelli isn't Italian, where then does he call home?

He's been fighting for acceptance since he was a child and last night was an outpouring of 21 years of emotional stress and frustration, so of course making his point by scoring the goals that secured a place in the finals for Italy and hearing his 'fellow countrymen' chearing and chanting his name was going to make last night the best night of his life.......

Most of us wont understand what racism means on a personal level unless we've lived in a country as a minority race and had to suffer the years of abuse that Balotelli has. I mean FFS wasn't it only two days ago that an Italian newspaper was depicting Mario as King Kong and even on this forum some of our fellow blues who've probably chanted Balo's name when playing for us couldn't see what was wrong with Mario being compared to an over-sized gorilla!!!

Mad Mario may be bonkers, but he's our bonkers, and lest any of us should ever wonder why at times he seems so strange, the microcosm of what's happened to him this week might go a long way to explain his sometimes erratic 'I couldn't give a fuck' behaviour........

Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.

Well said!!!

Mario has been through an awful lot in his young life. His adoption wasn't straight-forward and he's been subjected to egregious bigotry in his native Italy because of the colour of his skin. When that's mixed in with his relatively temptestuous manner, it's no wonder he doesn't behave like Jimmy Milner. But his performances this season - not just in the Euros - show he is a special football talent. I'm sure as he matures he will become an even better player; I'm just glad that Italian football finances are so straitened that we've got him and not Milan!
