Mario Balotelli

best night of his life winning a semi? after he won the league with city? seems a bit wrong to me.

Imagine being brought up as an Italian, but because of the colour of his skin many of his 'fellow countrymen' wont accept him as such......

He wears the colours of his nation, but in the past his own 'fellow countrymen' chant song from the stands that he may wear the Italian colours, but he'll never be Italian....

But if Balotelli isn't Italian, where then does he call home?

He's been fighting for acceptance since he was a child and last night was an outpouring of 21 years of emotional stress and frustration, so of course making his point by scoring the goals that secured a place in the finals for Italy and hearing his 'fellow countrymen' chearing and chanting his name was going to make last night the best night of his life.......

Most of us wont understand what racism means on a personal level unless we've lived in a country as a minority race and had to suffer the years of abuse that Balotelli has. I mean FFS wasn't it only two days ago that an Italian newspaper was depicting Mario as King Kong and even on this forum some of our fellow blues who've probably chanted Balo's name when playing for us couldn't see what was wrong with Mario being compared to an over-sized gorilla!!!

Mad Mario may be bonkers, but he's our bonkers, and lest any of us should ever wonder why at times he seems so strange, the microcosm of what's happened to him this week might go a long way to explain his sometimes erratic 'I couldn't give a fuck' behaviour........

Never judge a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.

Top post. Love the word 'bonkers'

Top marks Dribble.

A great moment of vindication for Mario. So glad he's had a good tourney so far.

He was absolutely unplayable at times last night. Two reds in the office have already expressed their fear of him performing like that next season, "Awesome" is the phrase they used.

Good luck in the final Mario

How we all cheered when Ball deliberately stamped on the tranny...

we may be fickle but Balo deserves a break.

Great finish but I fear for him in the EPL....The FA hates his antics and the refs seem to go out of their way to pick up on anything he does and book or send him off. Same with pundits in UK....while he continues to entertain and sell newpaper column inches he'll do it at City's expense!!!

Unless he has a change of personality and a maga charm offensive of the powers that be..(lets face it this aint gonna happen soon)..he's never gonna get the cahnce to be a success....hope not but this story could have a very sad ending down the line!!
That's happened just once. Martin Atkinson at Liverpool. He didn't deserve to get sent off then. Every other time he has deserved the punishment he's received, he can be an absolute fucking childish and petulant wanker.

Outside all this I think English refs try and reassure him he's doing well. Webb often converses with him and Dean puts his hand on his back as if to say "doing well Mario keep it up!".

In that interview with Noel Gallagher, Mario was asked if he thinks he'll be the best player in the world and I cringed because he'll never be the best player in the world. His decision making can be poor, his balance is terrible, his passing is erratic, his effort levels can be questionable and his attitude can be unacceptable...but he's got some excellent attributes...he's got some pace, he's good at defending corners, he can go past a player, he can strike a shot very well, he scores fantastic goals and his penalties are immense. All-in-all I think he's a good player, someone who needs to improve a hell of a lot, but a good player who is truly inconsistent at being just a good player.

"World class" and "best player in the world" statements need to be left well alone and let him concentrate on just being as good as Mario Balotelli can be. Harping back to incidents where he's made a **** of himself need to be put in the past too they've been and gone, mistakes are all part of growing up. He has done sone stupid things, he can be absolutely shite on the pitch, he can also be a liability... but he can be excellent in flashes and, although it hardly ever happens, for a full game too. Maybe he is starting to finally grow up. Let's allow him to do that.

Balotelli definitely went some way to changing my tune about him last night. Superb performance capped off with 2 perfectly executed goals. No nonsense either. If he performs like that 80% of the time, (not many can do their best all the time), he will go a long way to fulfilling the potential he has. It was like a mature performance last night.
Very impressive.
