Some people are tiring of Mario, I'm tiring of the haters. He's deserved neither of his suspensions but because his name is Balotelli they've been given for fuck all. If Scott Parker got penalised for the same level of challenges as Mario, he'd barely play. As for Charlie Animal, sorry, Adam, got away with it again, against Brighton. Defies belief. Asked this several times as well now, what punishment did Huth get for his off-the-ball elbow into Mario's throat in the FA Cup Final? Mario is judged by the harshest standards in the league despite not being a dirty player and some of our fans are seemingly going along with it.

I get your point if he goes onto get 30 goals in a season just to prove to himself he can.

But, there's a bigger picture to look at surely. Is he ever going to amass 30 goals in a season when he's constantly getting himself on the wrong side of Mancini? Very doubtful. Which is a shame because we all know just how good a player he is.

The fact is, if he were to play for United, Arsenal, Chelsea etc, City fans would be labelling him a complete and utter plank and that they were glad he wasn't wearing the blue shirt. Maybe some City fans are just blinded by the fact he is a City player so he can do no wrong when in reality, his stupidness is preventing him from scoring much more than he has so far and that if he was to actually pull his finger out of his arse for once, he could go on to be one of the worlds best IMO.

Just because it's 'Mario' shouldn't excuse him for acting the prized clown on one to many occasion. If any of Hart, Silva, Aguero, Yaya started going out on the pop, smoking, breaking curfews and whatever else it is he has done, would his 'backers' be as 'acceptable' as they seem to be when Mario does it?

A great post! Sums up my thoughts on Mario - exactly.

Surely they will protect him from the tabloid and "The Sun" of woman phone hacking low life thunder*cunts bastards, unfortunately our club is not doing enough to protect our players on and of the pitch and piss poor dealing with the media.

how about BS story by N Ashton : Kompany car firm facing rap after insurance probe by Greater Manchester Police??? WTF?

Maybe some City fans ??? you sounds like rag to me... Awful post - my thoughts exactly

Ahh I get it. Because I don't support City, it means I must be a rag.

Right OK.

the problem is that Mario has made only 21 appearances this season, compared with 37 by Aguero and 30 by Dzeko. That low figure is down in large part to poor discipline.
Not really, when fit and available Mancini still leaves him out.

Yes, for disciplinary reasons. As he's said a few times, Mario couldn't get in the team for the first six or seven games of the season due to his poor attitude in training.

-- Tue Mar 06, 2012 12:05 pm --

There's no conspiracy against Mario - he's got a deserved bad reputation for behaving like a tit on the field (and off it). He's deserved, by the letter of the law, the vast majority of cards he's received. Of course players with a bad reputation are scrutinized more closely than those without the bad reputation - but as I said, Mario deserves his so he and we shouldn't complain.

He's got all the talent in the world, but lets not kid ourselves, he's as thick as pig shit and clearly an overindulged overgrown little boy. Needs to grow up and mature quickly if he wants to realize his vast potential.

It's far closer to the truth than a lot of Blues want to admit. Don't get me wrong, I don't think he's particularly nasty. I just think he's dumb and petulant and does things which really at the level he's playing at, he shouldn't be doing. To balance the argument, I personally love him as a footballer. He's comfortably the best forward we have, and when he's focused he's unplayable.

Balotelli: Insists he has matured this season

Manchester City maverick Mario Balotelli insists that he has grown up this season, putting more "effort and intensity" into his game.

Balotelli continues to make news on and off the field, as he seems to hit the headlines as often as he hits the back of the net.

The 21-year-old has made a big impact on the Premier League this season and is into double figures for title-chasing City, something he puts down to an improved effort on the training ground.

"This year I have already scored 14 goals and a pair of penalties, and the intensity and effort I put into training this year, are not comparable to last season," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport.

"I have grown up, I have understood certain things."

Balotelli's latest controversy saw him pictured leaving a strip club less than 48 hours before their Premier League clash with Bolton.

The Italian retained his place in the starting line-up and even scored in the 2-0 win, but afterwards his boss Roberto Mancini confirmed his anger and stated he would be fining his striker.

Mancini has even admitted that he would like to see Balotelli settle and maybe even get married to try and curb some of his antics, but the youngster insists that is not on the cards just yet.

"Do I think to marry? For me it is not soon," he admitted. "When you find the right person, it may be the time. Raffaella (his girlfriend) is the best thing that ever happened to me. It gives me peace of mind, she understands me when I make a mess.

"How did she take my evening at the strip club? Well I'd have got angry if she went to a male strippers' club with her friends."

He admits he is yet to talk to Mancini about the incident, adding: "I have not done anything wrong at the strip club, even though I was wrong to go there two days before a game.

"The fine? I don't know yet. I have to talk with Mancini."

Balotelli's issues off the field have seen him dropped from the Italian national side, with a warning from coach Cesare Prandelli that he needed to improve his behaviour.

Prandelli's stance was even backed by Mancini and Balotelli admits he was hurt to be left out.

"The exclusion from the national team? I was very disappointed," he continued.

"I often say in the locker room: Barcelona? Real Madrid? For me the most fascinating shirt is that of my national team, for the feeling that I want to represent Italy.

"I'm sorry to have lost a friendly match in Genoa (against USA). There is a code of ethics and I accept it, although I don't think I deserved it, I had done nothing wrong.

"But to dissolve the misunderstanding, I sent an SMS [text] to Prandelli. I assured him that I feel calm and I'm training well. Then I said thank you once again, because he always had confidence in me."

Speaking about the title run-in, he feels comfortable that City will come through against rivals Manchester United, if they stick together.

"We are a big group of quality," he added. "If we remain united as a group until the end, then United will be left behind us."

I agree with all that but I think the majority of his cards have been unjust. He has never done anything to deserve his reputation on the pitch. He has never been particularly nasty (certainly when viewed against Rooney for example), never one to go into the ref's face a throw an expetive ridden verbal and he doesn't kick lumps out of the opposition. I doubt he would have received even 1/3 of the cards he has done if his name was Rooney, Lampard, Gerard, Adam etc.

Rooney still shows more petulance in each and every game, he never stops flailing his arms around and decisions that don't go his way. You may ask why I keep referring to others but I tend to feel that all players should be judged on a level playing field. Why should we always be the ones that have to be whiter than white?

There is no conspiracy.

Mario has become a celebrity and there is a hunger for stories about him.

If he scratches his arse then people want to know which hand he used.

Unfortunately he is more likely to be on the front page rather than the back page now.

I dont think his column inches match his footballing prowess.
