oh, there is better and worse violence then?
interesting...
i suppose there is yes, against people playing sport and entertaining us getting abuse and people getting pissed with knifes yes i suppose there is.

I've just watched that Panorama on BBC IPlayer tonight as it was recommended to me by my colleague, whose brother was the cameraman.

That has to be one of the worst, sensationalist, xenophobic, biased, Sun-style pieces of journalism I've ever seen.
From the tone of the reporter's voice, to Sol Campbell's reactions. Embarrassing.

Sure, there is racism in Poland and the Ukraine, just like everywhere else in football (John Terry, Ron Atkinson, etc.), but for the BBC to put out a scaremongering 'story' like that is utter shite journalism. If I remember correctly, similar to what they did with South Africa. And did we see the 'expected' problems in 2010?

Some of the things were disgusting, from the Nazi salutes, to attacking the Asian fans (how do we actually know that it was a racist attack, and not to do with something else? They didn't just attack non-white fans.), and fair play for highlighting these actions. But this was one of the worst examples I've ever seen of the press trying to influence the public's opinion.

The best for me was when they showed the flag of SS (Societa Sportiva) Lazio while the reporter said there were signs of Nazi insignia everywhere. What a dick! Does he know nothing about football?

I used to like Panorama when I was a kid. This programme tells me that something's changed.
Either:
The BBC is not as impartial as I thought it was.
The BBC are trying to be xenophobic.
We have severed diplomatic relations with Poland and Ukraine.
The government commissioned it to whip up a hate campaign against Poles and Ukrainians working in the UK.
The FA commissioned it to have an explanation for why no England fans are going to the games.

If you go out to a country with the intention of contacting neo-nazi type football hooligans, its hardly a surprise that you film them. Sums up much of what is wrong with the BBC, its become just like a tabloid in recent years, if there is no real story, then make one up.

It may not be depicting the whole nations views on other races, the program was called "Stadiums of Hate", and that's exactly what it showed. As SWP's Back has mentioned some of the stuff that was shown was disgusting and is far behind the likes of the UK/France/Germany etc in racism on the terraces.

Why now? Well the whole of Europe's eyes are falling on the countries in the next month...

Great post leipzigblue, thumbs up for that (if only it was facebook)

I think all this points are worth of consideration in terms of BBC motivation.
I don`t see really any problems in UK-Poland diplomatic relations as they were pretty good and are good as far as I`m concerned, however BBC "documentary" definitely caused a damage (to early to tell how big and repairable or not) but outburst of reactions from our president, prime minister and leaders of all parties clearly showed that people feel that we`ve been traeated very unfair here and lack of basics standards in this production was way too obvious to remain unnoticed.
Julia Tymoszenko case may be a obstacle in correct relations with Ukraine but I don`t think that play any big role though.
One thing is obvious: that Panorama bit was way to biased and devoid of basic honesty to be just a clumsy gaffe. It must`ve been agenda behind this for sure.

Briliiant vid :) words of guy who never been to Poland against words of guy who made Poland his second home. Who will you belive?
.

That Panorama programme made things a lot worse than they actually are; Sol Campbell didn't help things with his stupid "coffin" remark.

Mario's right in his stance and by making his attitude public, Uefa have to sit up and take notice of the racism.
