Mark Clattenburg

Well ol Wiggy Clattenburg has done his job again for the FA. He couldn't point to the spot fast enough. The sooner video technology is introduced for such decisions the better for me.
I watched the start of the Superbowl last week, an appeal waa made on a decision of a dropped pass, the decision was obviously wrong however, the video ref came down on the side of the on-pitch umpire. It was only early but that bent decision probably cost the Panters the game. If its bent that high up then unfortunately video replays won't make any difference.

If people think the game is fixed for City to lose the big games then why do you still watch? As soon as I thought Chinese betting syndicates were ruining games with the referee i'd stop bothering.

If its not fixed or corrupt in some way, what's your explanation for that decision ? It cannot possibly be deliberate, it did not hit his hand, it was questionable whether it was in the area. He has to be certain on all those before he gives it. It cannot just be a mistake on all three of those.

The last four big games he's refereed us in:

Arsenal away - foul on Aguero, missed a blatant handball.

United away - Offside goal.

Spurs away - Two offside goals.

Spurs Home - Ridiculous penalty that he couldn't see.

Not saying he's bent, just shite.

Corrupt and shite I would say.

This is indeed one obvious downside to video reffing. It is essential that all video footage is seen by the fans in the Stadium. If Howie Redshirt as video ref still comes down on Crapps' side with that appalling decision at least we have the video evidence that they are cheats.

He just doesn't like us end of. Elleray didn't like the rags and Keane, it happens. Am sure we'll get another dodgy decision a la sterling v everton. It'll even itself out.

Whilst I'd like to think that it does seem to be we have 4/5 awful decisions against us before one actually goes for us?

The silence from the media on the disgusting penalty decision tells you all you need to know about what is going on in our game.

Im still utterly fucked off with what happened yesterday.

He is supposed to be impartial.

The he just doesnt like us end of is not acceptable for a ref.

Yes you duck egg and it's been exposed which is precisely my point, corruption amongst football referees would have been exposed long ago if there was enough evidence..

If there were facts do you not think that the British tabloid press would be all over them? They are not exactly renowned for their gentlemanly, easygoing attitude to sxandal and this would be the biggest story in UK sport since 1966 (the year a dodgy Russian linesman won the World Cup for England)

These blog articles make fascinating reading as do the anecdotes about 'secret dossiers' but there's no actual....what do you call them?...facts, you lot would be a riot on jury service, 'Guilty, his eyes are too close together and he looks a bit, you know...shifty'.

Anyway, a friend of a friend read something on Facebook written by this bloke who knows a man that works at the bove ar the refs house and he swears that the fix is in for City to beat Liverpool 2 - 1 at Wembley so I'm off down the Post Office as soon as it opens to cash in all my Postal Orders, I'm gonna get me some easy winnings, or Clattenbergs as they are known 'round my way

See you all in North London on the 28th, I'll be drinking in Harrow before the game and I'll be easy to spot as I'll be the one wearing the full refs kit...pop over and buy me a pint and I'll tell you a secret.
It's totally mind blowing for you to conceive the possibility that a referee might be on the take? Not sure why you would be quite so condescending towards those who aren't quite so naive.

It isn't acceptable true but he basically has something against us. The rags and arsenal matches had the same if not worse incidents involving ball to hand but nothing was awarded. I actually thought he'd give a free kick yesterday, was stunned to see he'd give a pen. Refs are inconsistent, always have and always will be.

It was mentioned yesterday about the media and their influence on things like this and its spot on. If he makes that call yesterday against the rags lets say, he gets nailed in a trial by media and he knows it. The fact he knows it makes sure he doesnt ever make that call.

He makes it against us because its all fair as far as the media are concerned. Nothing is being said or made about such a farcical decision and he is sat there this morning not giving a fuck, safe in the knowledge his career is safe.

Do you think it would be safe had he made a call like that against the rags or any other sky 4 side?

Lol, with all this supposed "Corruption" and our sheik having all of the money in the world, then why dont we buy the ref, or the season? When we win the prem is it because the refs were corrupt?

Get a sense of perspective guys, Clattenburg was a nob, he shouldnt have give the penalty, it was a bad call, no consistency, poor decision etc , not bought Lol

Personally, I would like to see poor poor decisions like that punished, he should be moved down a division until he learns to err on the side of caution, dick

Pure guesswork yesterday and if that's the standard of reffing we are getting then he needs a spell out of football.

Week in week out this happens to us and it's costing us points

Fully agree with this. Its not just the sky4 though, look at the uproar for days after the Everton game when they got a line call wrong by about a millimeter. You know straightaway when a ridiculous decision goes against us, it hardly warrants a mention. We are though our own worst enemy, the longer the club don't kick up a fuss, the more of these decisions we will go against us. Officials know we are soft, and with the bulk of the media against us anyway, they know they can get away with it.

We have had 4 stonewall pens not given . A couple of others that to me were just as much pens not given. I would love to see those 4 pens and the one given yesterday on a Question Of Sport and ask........Which one of these was not a penalty ? Wonder if anyone could give the right answer.

Crap refereeing, pure guesswork in a big game. FA needs to take some action and relegate him to a league 1 or 2 game.

He cannot be allowed to ref us again, surely? The only problem that presents is that the rest of them are just as crap.

This is the usual comment at which the football fraternity arrives after a controversial incident. I don't call it 'inconsistent', I call it cheating. To award an infringement for a single clear, if it was clear, incident, and then to not award the same sanction for a nigh on similar incident the next week or in the next half is not inconsistency, it is something more basic - cheating.

Just how many incidents of holding at a corner are blithely ignored and yet within a few yards of the halfway line a simple hand on shoulder and a player going to ground with ne'er enough force to move a piece of paper is roundly given. They are dishonest in their application of the Laws of the Game, and dishonesty fall inside the same camp as cheating.

I was desperate for Sterling to get into the area and be sent flying. Just to see whether we got a penalty or a booking, depending on which form of the Laws Crappenberg was operating.
