Marseille (a) post match thread

What does any of this even mean?

No one is allowed to have an opinion or criticise/applaud the performance of the club, manager or players?

Your post is hypocritical as you have just gave your opinion/view on Pep and the players like everyone else!

Pointless post.
Good post.

Because you disagree with an opinion you attempt to shout it down, and belittle it,by way of a large dose of Bigblueitis.....? WTF is all that about on a discussion board?

Rodri is a top player, but even on what we would call a good night, like last night, I recall one moment when the commentator mentioned how Marseille couldn't get near us & some bloke just skipped past him & Gundogan in one movement & headed at our back 4.

In contrast, Rodri was often the guy with the time & space, on the ball, but it's rare he can produce one pass to split a defence or go over it. Van Dijk, from centre back, finds several per game.

Imo it's good to look at how the team can improve, from a position when things go right rather than on a shit day. Last night just confirmed to me that we ought to be able to find a much better blend in midfield than Rodri & Gundogan.
I don’t think it’s unexpected or denigrates Rodri too much to be skipped round once last night. He’s not the archetypal holding midfielder that puts himself about, but he never has been even before we bought him.

I think with the current trend of the opposition playing five at the back it’s difficult to expect him to play defence splitting passes, especially when we don’t have many players running beyond the back line!

I don’t think Rodri is the perfect man for us in that position, he does have some outstanding attributes and I think last night was a good night for him.

He absolutely needs to improve his passing. I'm sure he has great passing %'s but i feel that when he tries the incisive pass forward he often gives the ball away. Sometimes thats exactly what we need to break the lines and change the sideways passing and something Fern and Yaya were brilliant at. That then gives KDB and others the space to turn and break. Not saying Rodri can't do it, he just needs to work a bit harder on doing it well.

No idea, if we all had the same opinion it would be boring and not very interesting to read.

Some posters use very informative information to back up their argument which adds weight to their point of view and I have changed my opinion on a few occasions.

We are not yet rawk:)

Not shouting anything "down"...

...and anyway, if folk disagree with my opinion they are obviously mistaken...

Maybe I am wrong and we have now reached cult like status.

All hail Pep the one true god. Lead us to the promised land oh holy one. Vanquish those who dare oppose your possession based football.

That ok wago?

He is 'steady' & not especially good at any one thing but 'ok' in general & a big unit.

It's whether we settle for that, because we think we can get away with it & still win, or whether we try to have players of KDB, Aguero standard in the positions occupied by Rodri & Gundogan.

I think if we did find the 'right' players, we would go up to another level.

Rodris a big unit and wont recover quickly ,hes much better at ball winning than Fernandinho, he should of been one of the first to be substituted last night
Also ,a game or two without him would quickly reveal how much he contributes
