Martín Zubimendi

Ideally he should have been signed along with Gundo and I still don't see him moving midseason but there is no harm in get him boxed off ahead of Liverpool for the summer.

Agree totally & to be honest, Rodri needs a motivational challenge for his place - as well as a rest during a long season - when he returns.

Definitely. Rodri's injury is so severe he's going to need careful management. We don't want to be flogging him the way we have so signing a player that can rotate for him and play alongside him makes sense. Zubimendi and Kovacic as a pairing gives us good energy and a bit more balance too in the meantime.

We have to be active in January in my opinion. We've got the CWC and then it's a couple of weeks before the season starts. That's no time at all to rest players or bring in new ones to adapt to how we play. It's better to bring them in earlier and use the following months as a period for them to adapt. It also allows us to manage the squad better so that they're not completely dead on their feet going into a new campaign.

We could still win things this season but we definitely need to start the transition into the next version with a few players potentially reaching the end of their careers with us and a lot of young talent that needs to step up and deliver.

Got the vibes this is on. Price is decent and knows Rodri well. Perfect balance to midfield. Add in a creative 10 and midfield is sorted.
Agree, it does feel more likely than some of the other transfer rumors we hear about.

The issue is the player will not want to move midseason. Although he has been complimentary about both City and Rodri he had already turned down Liverpool last summer with the supposed release clause in place and we have a DoF retiring at the end of the season. Not suggesting he won't end up playing for City at some stage, it won't be immediately despite being short in squad numbers.

Maybe he didn’t fancy the dips. This is pep and city so a complete different animal to say no to. Add in Rodri to the mix and it’s a no brainer. Maybe the lad has had a few months to digest the situation and feels he will slot into city a lot better than dips.

If we want him he come imo.
