Martin Ødegaard

I think it's fair to say don't believe anything you read about this kid until he officially signs for a club, supposedly signed 10 contracts over the last month haha

They were evidently all short time contracts.

What an awful move for him.

Looks like he chose a club name over game time.

How is it an awful move for him? He will go straight into the Castilla side who play against adult and the Suegunda B group 2 is probably the same standard he was playing in. The club will probably give him experience in cup matches too.
It's a great move for him and Madrid, and the whole B team system in Spain is one reason why it's more attractive to play there than in England.

Indeed, not a bad move for him. Alongside with famous former football player Zidane would not harm. Plus, famous as Martin is, there'd be a chance for him to play in the first team in cup, or in some friendly games. However, fifteen years old, we never know, hmm....

agreed with you. most of big teams in Spain have their B team playing in Segunda League, their 2nd division. sorry to say, playing with Castilla (Madrid B) or Barca B in competitive league are more attractive than play with EDS team in restricted age league. this is one aspect that England league drawback, young talents at big clubs need to go out on loan just to get an experience and playing time.

just asking, is it possible for City Group to buy a local club in lower league and make them our unofficial B team?

Bolton ?

I can see why he's gone to Madrid.

The lure of Real Madrid is massive, but the B team is a huge incentive aswell IMO.

If Ødegaard came for us, he wouldn't be ready for our first team yet, so where would he go? With Real Madrid (and Barcelona), there is a clear path to the first team, helped massively by the B team.

Playing in Real Madrid's B team in a competitive league is better for his developement than playing for our EDS or getting loaned out, it's as simple as that.

The top English clubs need to have a B team for top young talent.

The lad works very hard, clearly enjoys his football and will now have the real Zidane as his teacher. Not bad at all. Best of luck Martin.
