Fantastic article and a real window on current and hopefully future events...

Picked up on the thinly veiled snipe at Cook and some players who don't like the current regime... Will be interesting to see who does "fall by the wayside".

Also loved the SWP pic, the casual swearing and the story about being at Barca... Doesn't seem like they were a very professional outfit does it?

Who was the manager there at that time....?

Oh yeah, that's right, another Tottenham-linked cockney spiv named Venables... Triffic!

They were of course one of the world's biggest clubs back then too, but they were nowhere near as successful in the 80's as they've been since. Cruyff sorted them out, and they've had a sort of dutch style and mentality since.

It just shows that it's more about how the club's run than it's history that makes it successful on the field... We can't sack Hughes now. It would be suicide..

Re: Martin and Mark talk Kaka

The Mail have been the ONLY paper who have talked about us in a positive light in the past few months. I know it might sound a little paranoid but it leads me to believe that they may have an arrangement with us that excludes all others, it would certainly explain how the others are prepared to go ridiculously way over the top in their 'reporting'.

This was an interview with MH and the reporter basically stepped back and let him explain his position. IMO others who have been left out of the loop have dumped their jealousy and frustration into 'opinion based' articles and slated us at every opportunity.

This was a fantastic read and after the circle jerk of vitriol aimed at us by spineless, jealous, poorly informed shit spreading journos, it was what I've been waiting for from MH.

Recent events have sent the hounds into a baying frenzy and it all began to sound the same. Whiny, sarky, bullshit opinions based on nothing...cant sign kaka...comedy club...blah blah fucking blah.

Dont take the bait blues, let things settle and we'll soon see if our club is going in the right direction...I believe we are and I can see MH taking us there.

Wow, a bit of personality.

Quite enjoyed that read.

'At Barcelona we were left to get on with it and, for me, at a young age, that was too much too soon. I didn’t want to leave Manchester United. I had no language, I had no car, I had a house with a fantastic fireplace, but I needed logs and I didn’t know how to get logs. I’d see these logs piled up outside people’s houses but I had no idea how to ask where they came from. I got so desperate I was walking around thinking about nicking some. It took me three months to even work out how to get a car.

Say what you want about Hughes, but he is professional, I've always believed deep down he would get it right given the time.

Judging by last year, under Thaksin he'd almost definitely have been sacked by now.

Hold on mate..let's not go sucking each other off just yet. There is 'telling someone you are professional' and 'being professional.' Don't get the two confused.

This is lovely. All wonderful words. It has to translate though. Let's remember the piss poor performances, players being thrown all over the pitch for no apparent reason and the inexplicable, defending a two nil loss. I admire his confidence, but the best leaders in the world will admit fault once or twice. There was nothing there to suggest that he was'nt 100% correct and the players are the one's that need to work his way, or not at all.

He's drop bollocks, and he should know he has. I am not thrilled with that interview at all to be honest. Very baconface. Just hope he has the ability and aura he has, or all the discipline won't work.

I could remind you of some of the brilliant performances such as Pompey and Arsenal. I believe that he has shown with teams like Blackburn and Wales that he can make good players better. The issue is can he make great players better.

I think he can I think he is trying to build a squad that is fitter and I think we will pick up more points this half of the season than we did in the first. I think he has bought good players, who are his, so the dead wood such as Vassell, Ball and Hamann can leave. I know that we have been inconsistent but that is to be expected in a side in transition but I think we will become more consistent and who knows what could happen.

Haha.

Does anyone know if he's sent his S/T back yet?

I hope you're not planning to highjack every thread with comments about me.

If you want to know, send me a pm and I will tell you. If you prefer to sit back and make snidey digs then thats you're business.

Commented in the other thread, thought it was a good read (as most of Martin Samuels pieces on us have been) and was pleased to see Hughes show some personality.

Re: Martin and Mark talk Kaka

Can we give Martin Samuel his own sticky thread? This guy is writing some positive stuff about us, and seems to be the only one too. Good on him.
