We defended a bit deeper than we normally do when Kompany is there and that definitely helped him.

It certainly helped him, as did the fact that their game plan was to lump balls in the box from wide areas.

But I am well pleased for him to have had such a good game. Football is cruel and a couple of mistakes can make you a figure of ridicule throughout football. Ask Titas Bramble. It can't be easy for a proud pro to be lampooned like that throughout the country-even some of your own fans. I thought the singing about him in the square in Barcelona was pathetic to be honest.

He showed some guts did the lad and I'd love him to carry on playing as well, amd shove some of the criticism down people's throats. The way that back four played the high line on Saturday was hugely impressive.

Well done MDM

I do find that things like this take on a life of their own, a couple of bad games and the whole of the football world decides a player is shit, egged on by stupid pundits

No doubt about it. Wayne bridge got it for us too. Burnley I think it was, MOTD pundits watched the highlights and butchered him. He never really recovered. Gareth Barry, too, for England. Your average pub fan will sit with a beer in their hand and preach to you about what a terrible player someone is, and if you interrogated them you'd probably find they've seen that player involved in two or three brief incidents in their entire career.

Demichelis is a good footballer, but if he gets isolated one on one with a quick centre-forward he's in trouble.

Definitely. The same problem as lescott has, and the biggest weakness in our team, now that nastasic has gone backwards. And first priority for the summer.

The media witch hunt on him has been a disgrace, yes he's made a few mistakes but he's also contributed superbly to our season so far - the definition of a scapegoat and unfortunately a few of our own womble's have jumped on the bandwagon.

Huge credit to him also for his intervention and behaviour in 'protecting' Hart during the Boyd incident.

I've said a few times that Maldieka and Bayern Blade both said to us when we signed him that he was liked by the Bayern fans, he was a decent enough footballer for a team who won back-to-back doubles but he certainly had flaws to his game and an absolute clanger in there somewhere once a game.

They watched him for six years. We've not watched him for six months but can see exactly that sort of player in that shirt space of time.

Look at the other day; he was excellent on the whole, but around the 48th-49th minute, he legged it out of the defensive line (to do what i have no idea) and it left space for Long to have a clearer shot on goal than if he'd stayed next to Garcia. Luckily the shot was straight at Joe.

But outside that he was really good.

Totally agree that everything gets blown out of proportion. How many times has it been 100% Demichelis' fault this season? Does the bad outweigh the good? These are questions completely ignored by those with an ill thought out hate agenda.

The incident surrounding the Barcelona sending off was arguably owing to Kompany but that'd never be raised on telly owing to the (correct) perception that Vinny's an awesome defender and leader.

The other incident that surprised me was the camera panning onto Demichelis after Wigan's second goal, pointlessly...

Yes, I'd prefer that we had another CB in Kompany's stratosphere but we have no options at the moment short of giving either Demichelis or Lescott a sustained run. I'd say Demichelis' experience and leadership give him the edge over Lescott but I'm not sure there's a huge amount in it. I wouldn't lob a fit Nastasic back into the run in - his confidence looks like it's gone the way of Savic's so he's needs to rebuilt outside of the pressure of these last games.

So let's get behind him please.

He is very much a leader when the team is down. Very evident with the Hart incident. The thing about him is that he doesn't shy away from the ball like so many players in the BPL and that is why I like him. I see a lot of United players shying away from any sort of responsibility.
